As an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Specialist, I have to give this book a high recommendation. The beginner will get a good introduction to physique development. The more experienced will get ideas for adding variety to their programs. The photos are a bit misleading for the beginner - you'll never look like that unless you use drugs. However, all the technical information is good, and I like the presentation. This book is a real bargain!

This book contains all of Weider's best principles. If you want to know some new things that can make your workout interesting. When you design your own workouts, don't use the ones the pros use until you have put on some lean muscle on a less strenuous program.

I am an quite sophisticated bodybuilder for about 10 years now, and I found so much truth in this book. If you are a bodybuilder with the ambition, to build your body without steroids, this book has all the informations you need. Some training plans are perhaps to heavy without steroids, but the rest of the book teaches you all you need.

the book includes a basic introduction to bodybuilding, numerous training plans for beginners, advanced and pros (in my opinion these are more for little schwarzeneggers).

furthermore a whole bunch of exercises are described in detail including pis and also which on part of the muscle it focusses on.

the principals of a bodybuilders nutrition are also explained, and preparations and tipps for compitions are also included.

conclusion: almost everthing I know about bodybuilding, i know from this book!

thanks joe weider :)

This book is for the young bodybuilder dreamers and not for the realist. You definitely need anabolic stearoids to reach the results pictured. Nice review of exercises but the organization of the book makes it difficult to find practical advice. There are a lot of "sample" exercise programs of the "superstars" but they are so variable that you don't get much useful information. If you like a lot of pictures of semi-naked weightlifters then buy this book, but if you want practical advice, look elsewhere.

While this book does offer the best exercises to do and how to do them, it won't give you the body it promises. Yes, following the programs in the book will greatly improve your strength and physique, but how can you achieve the body that is featured on the cover, or anywhere inside the book for that matter? Drugs, drugs, and more drugs. If you want a guide on how to shape up, try a more honest book that tells you all you need to know, not just what you want to here

I personally thought this book was a real winner. I have read this book many times cover to cover, yes this takes a while. I use it for reference all the time. It spells out exactly what and how to do all exercises. It also contains great photography of the stars in action. This also contains much information, many pages, great pictures, and pure content for the price. The only other book that is comparable is Arnold's Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.

If you are only going to buy one book on bodybuilding, make
this the one. The book covers, in great detail, everything
you need to know on your journey from a beginner to advanced.
Ultimate Bodybuilding covers diet and workout strategies. But the most
importantly it covers, to the core, the building blocks of
bodybuilding-the Weider Training Principles. Whether you are
a hardcore bodybuilder or just lift weights, you can't miss
this one.

A thorough coverage of exercises and programs. Of course one who is drug free can benefit...just don't expect to look like the pictured models! Loved the unbiased presentation of Mike Mentzer materials as well.

Weider suggested obsolete routines, especially for the novice bodybuilders. He did not include any chest exercise for the last three months of training.
