The old saying about *assuming* goes a long way in Bill Murray's "Cinderella Story."
In the hundred or so celeb penned books I've read one can usually see the author speaking their words. I assumed such here. Unfortunately, finding Bill was a tad difficult. Readers will hear him in his retorts to friends & colleagues and in the reminisces of family times with brothers Ed & Brian. Otherwise, Bill is buried and rarely surfaces.
Convoluted and confusing, the book jumps from one thought thread to the next never allowing the reader to knit an entire understandable story. Think Carl Spackler without his medication. On his meds, Carl may have made a more humorous read.
Not making this any easier to digest were the numerous editorial errors. Grammatical mistakes & typos hindered this work tremendously. I spent more time re-reading sentences hoping it was my fault and not Doubleday's. They've either got to start paying these copy folks more money or hire people who can edit with some actual sense of ability.
Too much of co-author George Peper? Perhaps. Not on par. Definately.

I thought this was a terrific book. It stands head and shoulders over most of the books that comic actors churn out that amount to little more than monologues posing as chapters. This book is a must for any Bill Murray fan, or, judging by some of these reviews, it's at least a must for Bill Murray fans who are capable of weeding through Bill's elliptical anecdotes. Sure, his stream-of-conciousness style may require a little patience, but the payoffs are worth the patience, I assure you. After reading it, I felt like I just spent the afternoon on Bill's back porch hearing all of his best stories, from his escapades on the links to his days growing up in Illinois to grand tales about making "Caddyshack." One of my favorite stories was about he wound up going to head to head in a golf tournament against John Denver, and how he tried to break Denver's concentration by exhorting the crowd to belt out some Rocky Mountain High harmonies. Great read.

This is the first book that Bill Murray has written. I must say that Murray has really done a good job! He's funny, kinda touching and appealing all the way! He talks about his life in golf from his chilhood to the present. From being a caddy, then starring in the greatest golf movie ever made, Caddyshack; and finally become a golfer himself. Some great stories about playing golf with Michael Jordan, Clint Eastwood, Scott Simpson, and Kevin Costnar, etc. Murray also talks about his family and his will to be in show business. There're occasionally some special sections with other people's comments on Bill like Chevy Chase, etc. Furthermore, you can see some pictures of baby Murray and Murray as Pat Boone! You don't have to be a Bill Murray fan to like this book. This is a book for those who are interested in humor, movies, golf, comedy, and biography!! Read this! I enjoy every page of the book and so would you!

If you are a fan of Bill Murray's and a golfer you want to like this book a lot. Little disappoints in this volumn and it is a lot of fun to read. I laughed out loud at least once in every chapter. The remarkable thing about this book is just how much a part of Bill Murray's life golf really is -- and just how much a part of golf Bill Murray has become. This is by no means a literary masterpiece, in fact, in several spots the reader is sure to wonder if any one proof-read this for continuity. However, this book does a great job in bringing the reader into the "never a dull moment" golf-life of Bill Murray. I'm left to wonder what would a Bill Murray celebrity pro-am be like -- probably a "caddy challenge match" and more fun people have had in years. A good read, that leaves you happier, if not better, for having read it.

Without a doubt Bill Murray comes off as the sexiest man alive in this book. Women who read this will be thrown into a wild Bill-desiring frenzy and probably tear their clothes off in public. Whoever would have thought that this Cinderella groundskeeper, just a drip from the bush leagues, would ever make it to playing foursomes with Michael Jordan, Hunter Thompson, Ethel Merman, Klaus von Bulow and Yoda, not to mention Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice? A rollicking romp down the green in a giant earth-devouring threshing machine could not be more fun than reading this book. You will desire this book more than sex or cigarettes once you have completed it. I know I do

I thought Bill went off on some rambling tales that made little sense. The book was funny at times and the photos were great, but it was difficult to follow the entire tale. If Bill was given the opportunity, I think he would be better at illustrating a children's book of poetry instead. I hear he has an artistic side, and I would like to see how he would draw. His appearance on Letterman promoting this book was enjoyable. If he was offered the chance to collaborate on some children's poems, I'd really be interested to see his creative sparks fly. I'd also be interested in reading a book by Bill about his involvement with the Saint Paul Saints...

As with the Steve Martian book, these 2 works of comedy need to be put in there place. They have to be the funiest works of comedy literature ever. This book kept me laughing, I couldn;t put it down. And all you people who said you love Bill but didn;t like the book, then you don't love Bill you just think you do. This book is Bill being honest and funny. I am a huge fan since 1984, when Ghostbusters came out, and I was only 2 years old. So save me from your whin, Murray is a genious, one of the few and last of the true comidian who will do anything to make you laugh. So buy this book, I loved it, and I think I'll go read it again.

This appalling mess of a "book" has too little golf to satisfy golfers and too little humor to satisfy fans of Bill Murray's comedy. Perhaps we're all missing some inside joke that Murray and Peper have concocted here, in which case I guess the joke's on us. Nonetheless, the authors and everyone associated with this project should be embarrassed to have been a part of it. The only way I can explain its status on the bestseller list is the low price, although it's hardly a bargain even at 50 percent off. If you still want to waste your time on this book, I suggest that you pick it up at your local library.
