5.0 von 5 Sternen Sting in his own words
Sting tells the story of his early life. He gives insights into his daily struggles, worries, and joys, which are very fascinating to read. He openly talks about his failures, his immaturity at times, as well as his determination to follow his path, which will eventually lead into his success with The Police. 3.0 von 5 Sternen A great musician - an interesting author?
I have been a great fan of Sting for a couple of years now and I am the proud owner of a large Sting CD-collection; but my enthusiasm is not blind.
The information one gets about the man Gordon Sumner is interesting to read, I wouldn't like to miss it (it's not vital, though).

I have been a great fan of Sting for a couple of years now and I am the proud owner of a large Sting CD-collection; but my enthusiasm is not blind.
The information one gets about the man Gordon Sumner is interesting to read, I wouldn't like to miss it (it's not vital, though).
Nevertheless, there is a feel of arrogance in the book that I couldn't help but despise, though this may be a strong word. Sting seems to indulge in spitting in the face of the world, showing it that he is a renown person now. The way he writes about some people is downright pathetic. Why would he do that? Is it necessary, in the end? And it's not getting better if you try to hide it behind 'art'. I believe he is positive that what he's produced is a fine piece of art. Well, it's not. At times he is merely naive, nothing more. The reason for my giving him three stars is because there is also some "sober" info, which is nice to know, to understand his songs a little better.
Sting is a great musician, no doubt about it. Perhaps he had better kept his little stories to himself and restricted his writing efforts to deriving his ideas from literature and turning them into beautiful lyrics. He's rather good at that one!

It is also beautifully written and very hard to put down, and it reveals the person behind the rock star.
