Sandra Boynton's books are absolutely lovely! This one has become one of my child's favourites for going to bed. We have been reading it since the age of 3 until 4.5 years old, and it never gets boring. THere is a story about snoozers (animals who nap all day but refuse to sleep at night), a little bear who is not tired yet, a yawning giant dino-bird, different animals putting on funny pyjamas, six sleep sheep who do activities before bedtime, animals snoring in the jungle and a very silly but adorable lullaby. My personal favourite in this particular book ist the one about the tired little bear who keeps insisting that he's not tired! It's suitable for boys and girls. Highly recommended, just like all the other Boynton books.
This was the first book my busy toddler really loved. Now she's 4 and can read it herself, and she still loves it. And what's more, I'm not even tired of it! The humor, the rhymes, and the dialogue that invites participation are all great. "Meatier" than the smaller Boynton board books, but still in just-right bite-sized chunks. In my opinion, the best Boynton's done (unless you count Rhinoceros Tap, which play to a somewhat older audience but is also a huge winner).
My parents sent this little book to our daughter and since then I have had to read it so many times that I actually know at least two of the little stories by heart. Not a problem -- they are witty, almost all have a fun twist at the end that adults can enjoy, and the drawings are as cute as ever. An added bonus: You can read it the famous "one more time" quick enough to satisfy the little one and get her into bed in decent time. Recommended.
bought this book for my niece some time ago. She's turning 3 next month, and it's still one of her favourite books. She knows the words off by heart, and owns 3 other Sandra Boynton books by now. :) really great books for kids!!
We bought this book for my son when he was 1 year old. He love it. He chatters along as we read it and the tabs on the pages make it easy for him to turn them. He love the colors, the cartoon animals and we often find this book in bed with him. Thanks again Sandra Boynton for another great book
This is not just a favorite at bedtime, but all day long. My 13-month-old will bring it to me during the day and "throws" it at me until I read it. He especially loves the "snore" page --making the noises along with me.
Just the right book for little kids who can't sit still and who lack concentration for longer stories at bedtime. As long as the children can't read themselves, one can make up different stories. Lovely pictures too, and since children love looking at uncomplicated colourful pictures, this book is a "must have" book.
