Probably he's not as funny as Jerry's Seinlanguage but he does a surprisingly good job. I often caught myself nodding "yes, that happened to me (or my parents, at least) as well" or "he's oh so right". I really enjoyed reading it! Highly recommendable to anybody ... and you even don't have to be a couple.

If you're familiar with and enjoy the series Mad About You, then you'll love Paul Reiser's book, Couplehood. As a prelude to Babyhood, Paul takes a strangely enough realistic look at how couples coexist on a daily basis--how they interact with each other privately (privately, as in away from other couples, and privately, as in each one's own thoughts) and how they "play" with other couples around them. Although I find myself relating to some of the silly-yet-seems-to-be-pretty-serious right now couple ordeals in life, I sometimes get a bit edgy with Paul's nonstop (please give your mouth a break) dialog in the book. I constantly picture him on the show machine-gunning down everyone around him with his chitter-chatter and just have to put the book down every now and then, just to give myself a break from it all. He's very me-myself-and-I on the show, and it seems to also come out in the book. Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you.

Can you imagine two friends reading a book out loud that
makes them end up laughing so much they get teary-eyed?

With this book that's exactly what happened when I read it.
My friend and I couldn't stop laughing at times. This is
the type of book that you can put down, come back to later,
and not have to worry about any plots. It's just a feel-good,
laugh loudly kind of book.
Paul Reiser brings up situations that happen to everybody,
not just comedians or actors. They are actual situations
that you can relate to and say (between laughs) "I never
thought of it that way!"
I highly recommend this book, whether you are attached
at the hip or just on the singles scene. It is a definite
keeper

Reiser brings his sense of humor and reality from "Mad About You" to this successful book on love, dating, and the daily struggles that everyone faces. In a lighthearted way, Reiser points out all the hidden power struggles that happen in relationships, and you'll find yourself laughing along because you know you've done all these things. Reiser even manages to explain the 'Bing-Bang-Boom' theory, which is reason enough to buy this book. A bargain at any price, Couplehood will give you a helping hand in seeing the small things in your relationship

Where to start....hmmm. From good times to bad ones, this book is for anybody that would like to get a little laugh from their own, or others', relationships. Paul Reiser does an outstanding job laughing at, and with, us in our everyday lives trying to live with someone. Pointing out every possible quirk imaginable to man, he still sees the bright side of relationships. To sum up this book would be nearly impossible. It simply states, to me, that if you have a relationship, you'll have good and bad times....just make the best of it, no matter what

In this book, Paul Reiser is as funny as he is on "Mad About You", if not funnier. You'll laugh from cover to cover, and when you're finished, you'll read it again. That's what I did. It'll make you realize the power of love and why we crave it so much. Whether you're in a relationship, was in a relationship, or want to be in a relationship, this book is your bible. It's a perfect present for couples who are about to get married and I highly recommend it to everyone

I mean, it's good, and everything he says is true (you find yourself saying "yeah, he's right!" over and over), but.... I have to say this... It's just not that funny. It's supposed to be funny, but it lacks that certain something... that something you'd find in a book like Seinfeld's "Seinlanguage". I'm sorry to say this because I really like the guy, but I thought this was going to be better...

You can almost hear Paul Reiser's vocal inflection as you read the book, and it makes it even funnier (unlike some books by other comedians whose humor just doesn't translate to books). I saw myself and my significant other in several of his bits and just laughed myself silly the whole way through. Even if you get tired of watching Mad About You, you'll still enjoy this book. I'm going to go read it again.
