Title is a bit misleading
am 1. April 2013
If anything, this book can be inspiring to ambitious independent busness owners to conjure up the courage to start up; however, the title is like a catch, because of all the examples of courageous people told, I found very few examples of those who had spent $100 or less to start their business (most had spent well more than $100!) The book concentrates more on hand-selected stories of ind.bus. owners (and sometimes repeatedly so) and the strategies they used to get things going. I expected a more detailed, how-to-get-started-from-scratch-book; this is more like a biography of others with a pit-stop in just about every chapter on how to follow a certain business model/approach to getting started. Good, agreeable material -- but had me saying to myself, "Ok, so when are you going to get to how one starts up with $100 or less, Chris???". I wanted the author to get to the point. Chapter after chapter, I kept wondering this one question. I want a book that helps me to know how I, personally, can start a small business. One more thing to add: caution to taking some of these examples literally, as they do not always work if you are not living in a country that allows that much freedom to just launch a website, offering people a service in exchange for payment (this would most definitely not work here in Germany, with their horridly bureaucratic control system!). It could have you paying large penalty sums in your country. For Entrepreneur-hubs like the U.S., Canada, and the U.K - this could work a lot better than in countries where the controls and entitlement issues are tougher.
