After smoking a pack a day for 20 years and giving up and restarting many times, I finally stopped for good by following this book. That was 5 years ago, and that's why I can say Gillian Riley's method really works. Understanding what an addiction does to your brain (as opposed to your body) is the secret. I was able to not smoke even with a full pack and lighter in my pocket, and that's also part of the secret - not feeling deprived and miserable, because through working with the book I knew that stopping smoking was my conscious choice.
