Not getting better...
am 29. Dezember 2003
Sorry. I didn't like this one. At all.
I loved "Simply Irresistible", regularly re-read "Truly Madly Yours" and sort of appreciated the 3rd book (forgot the title). I dragged myself through "true confessions", not especially liking either him or her.
I skipped "Lola Carlyle" because the premise sounded lame, but with "see jane score" I was actually excited about the proposed story. Of course, gorgeous jock falls in love with supposedly plain old-fashioned girl is a premise already well handled by many other authors (see Susan Elizabeth Phillips), but here, the premise is sadly wasted on a truly dumb jock, who doesn't develop any feelings until the end (like, the last 2 pages) and who constantly is described as staring at the woman's skin and mouth. Honestly, I have no idea what the heroine looks like, except for fair skin. As for him, not that I would care to know, but he isn't described at all except that - apparently - he's large.
The girl, who should have been my point of reference as a reader, loses all my interest by being narrow-minded and self-pitying and boring to tears. By the time she gets her act together (the same last 2 pages where he shows feelings), I couldn't care less.
So why do I give it 2 stars?
- Great chapter titles
- great last 2 pages
