I had hoped to stumble across another light, Swedish gem along the lines of Jonas Jonasson's first book. Sadly, although this novel does have strong, quirky characters, the plot twists are even less credible and more convoluted than in The Hundred Year Old.... It thus becomes much harder to suspend one's disbelief as the story becomes mired down in yet another haphazard coincidence. The book lacks the verve and humour I had hoped to find again in Jonasson's writing and left me rather disappointed.
