Franco's Crypt: Spanish Culture and Memory Since 1&hellip von Jeremy Treglown
3.0 von 5 Sternen uneven, 24. August 2014
an unbalanced mixture of a) sharply analyzed cultural and political situations leading to insights with a real relevance for Spain, b) some well written journalistic essays on topics that other authors (eg Paul Preston) have dealt with earlier in a superior fashion and c) parafrases of books and films, that students of Spanish culture will have read or might want to read without spoilers.
Some of the connections implied or suggested between the cultural industries under Franco and e.g. the novel in Spain today, just don't work.
The author loves and knows Spain, that is clear, but his book did not help me in getting to know Spain too.

I share the enthusiasm of the other reviewers, but not their logic.
Please ignore all the references to Robert Graves' I, Claudius.
Williams is a greater master of the English language, in particular the traditional style in which the Latin classics were translated. And the structure of this novel is way more intricate: drama and playfulness combined.
Cafe Spice Namaste: New-wave Indian Cooking with O&hellip von Cyrus Todiwala
2.0 von 5 Sternen Badly produced book, 2. November 2013
A great cook like the author deserved something different. He has published a better one since.
This early attempt is unreadable because of quaint typesetting, unpractical colours and not enough technical step by step photography.
