If I could replace Hennig's voice with Emma Kirkby's (from the recording with Academy of Ancient Music with James Bowman singing the alto part), this recording would be absolutely perfect! That is, the orchestra here is pleasantly intimate (as someone before me mentioned), with an "ancient" sound, Rene Jacobs is just fabulous, only Hennig's voice is totally lacking emotional subtlety, and at times so sharp that I feel like plugging my ears.
Yet, I'd say this recording, though not always pleasant, is definitely interesting. After all, the really unpleasant parts (e.g. in the 2nd aria, "Cuius anima...", beware the long "pertransivit" in soprano - be sure to turn down the volume!) are not… Mehr dazu
