Die Musik ist wirklich nett und zum Mitgehen, aber ich persönlich kann mir das nicht anhören, ohne mich alle 10-20 Sekunden über die Zeile "I know what's right for you" (Ich weiß schon, was für dich am Besten ist) aufzuregen. Ich dachte, an dem Stadium wären wir vorbei. Wohl leider nicht. Hier erziehen wir eine ganze Generation schwärmender junger Mädchen dazu, sich solche Sätze gefallen zu lassen - ja, sie toll zu finden -, und junge Männer, so eine Einstellung gegenüber ihrer Partnerin für normal und zeitgemäß zu halten. Ich geh dann mal zurück an den Herd.

Shades of Milk and Honey (Glamourist Histories) von Mary Robinette Kowal

Let me start off my rant by saying that Shades of Milk and Honey is not a bad book. Its a decent Regency romance novel. However, I was deeply disappointed. Kowals series is being marketed as Jane Austen with magic  a claim that raises high expectations, which Shades of Milk and Honey proves unable to fulfil.

Of a title advertised as a book that could easily fit into Austens canon, as the blurb on the cover says, I expect impeccable style and a thorough knowledge of the period. Kowals writing is readable enough, but some sentences are grammatically awkward or downright broken  any editor worth their money should have fixed this. And worse, the authors idea of… Mehr dazu
Springtime Pleasures (A Love for every Season Book&hellip von Sandra Schwab
5.0 von 5 Sternen A sweet, darling novel, 17. November 2013
"Springtime Pleasures" is a light-hearted, captivating and well-researched book with unexpected depths. Schwab's characters are lovable, distinctly-cut personalities, the setting, Regency London, positively springs to life on the page, and the elegant yet tongue-in-cheek style is equally amusing and a joy to read. It is also very well worth mentioning that the author does an excellent job of reconciling the historically stiff, prudish and not exactly liberal sentiments towards women and sexuality with several female characters who are unconventional and strong, yet do not feel out of place.

If you have a heart in you, you really can't go wrong with this novel. And if, in addition… Mehr dazu
