Wonderful story. My first Higgins book. I went on to read The Eagle Has Landed and others. Great books. You might also like Hunt for the Red October by Tom Clancy. Marvellous piece of writing. Stayed up all night to read both of these books.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Makes the Bad guys look Good!, 28. Mai 2000

How many writers do you know who can do that? Throughout the story, I was on the side of the Germans. Not exactly Germans, but this particular German team.
Marvellous. I also recommend Thunderpoint by this author.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great for a programming guy, 28. Mai 2000
I know programming in other languages too. So when I took up this book, it was with a view to learn something nice really fast. And let me tell you, it was great. I had read a couple of books that tell you how to write applets and have graphics in them. But this book shows how to make your own graphs using APPLICATIONS and makes it seem so easy!
I also learnt to write the chat server from this book. Marvellous piece of Java literature.

5.0 von 5 Sternen You can do it !!!, 30. Mai 1999
I always wanted to run a marathon. Until now, the 42 kms distance appeared formidable. I had confidence in myself and had seen some good training programs on the web.
But when I would tell my friends about my decision to run a marathon, they would laugh at me. And that used to scare me off a bit. They were all dead sure that it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to do it.
Then, I found this great book. Not only did it give me all the confidence I needed but it also told me how to prevent injury and be in good form to finish my first marathon.
Right now I am training to run my first marathon. But I know I can do it. "If God be for us, who can be against us?"
Any first timer without this book is risking too much!

Advanced Concepts in Operating Systems: Distributed, Multiprocessor and Database Operating Systems (McGraw-Hill Series in Computer Science)
Advanced Concepts in Operating Systems: Distributed, Multiprocessor and Database Operating Systems (McGraw-Hill Series in Computer Science)
von Mukesh Singhal
  Gebundene Ausgabe

4.0 von 5 Sternen It is simple to understand and has good examples., 15. Dezember 1998
This book is very useful to get a good idea about what are the advanced issues in OS. But the only problem is that no particular topic could receive in-depth coverage. Perhaps it is a common problem for all books. Too much has been learnt about OS to be put in 500 pages. On the whole, I would highly recommend it to anyone who is not too comfortable with OS jargon and advanced mathematics.
