5.0 von 5 Sternen One of the most significant books of the 20th century, 10. September 1999
This is an extraordinary text. What some of the other reviews suggest is that it is to be avoided if you think it will be an escapist treatise bridging the worlds of myth and fantasy. IF YOU EXPECT THIS TO BE LIKE STAR WARS DO NOT READ THIS BOOK.
It is a journey to your own personal experience, as well as an exploration of the universal experience. It touches on our deepest fears and needs. It says much about our lives, our religions, and our civilisation. It is a sister text to Jung's autobiography. I found it gave me unique insights into my life, in all our heroic voyages, showing myth not to be the realm of fantasy, but of deep psychic truth. If this interests you read this, read Jung, and read The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony, by Roberto Calasso.

Dick is amazing in that whilst he keeps coming back again and again to the same theme, he always reads freshly, with the amazing ability to surprise. I gasped reading this book. The plot "twists" are in the Dick tradition of questioning the nature of meaning and significance, yet in this book Dick goes even further. Without "giving too much away", Dick has written the book in a manner which subverts the readers own linear understanding of time. Pure unadulterated genius. Dick is possibly the greatest writer of the second half of the 20th century.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Lyrical and poignant, 18. April 1999
I consider this the most moving piece of gay fiction I have ever read. Yes, at times it is "glamorous", but it portrays the veneer of liberation, the excitement of anonymous sex, whilst slowly exposing the emptiness, and the need to move on, and imbue ones life with greater meaning. Utterly beautiful, verging on spirtiual.
