3.0 von 5 Sternen well..., 3. Dezember 2007
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Holes (Taschenbuch)
I had to read this story for my 10th grade english class in germany, and i must say i really didn't like it very much. As with many other school books the problem is that the grammar and vocabulary is just at the right level (a bit too easy for me because i'm a native speaker) but the content is way too easy and not interesting to 15-year-olds. However, i'm sure that if i was younger (9-13) i would enjoy it a lot more, since it is a cute story and the topic is unique. Hence three stars...

5.0 von 5 Sternen Wonderful!, 9. Oktober 2007
This book radiates beauty. It is a book to be enjoyed and savoured. I can spend hours living in dirty, grimy Milton, guessing at whether a relationship between Mr Thornton and Miss Hale is possible, praying for strikes to end...It is simply magnificent. Gaskell's writing is highly refined and professional. Very highly recommended!

5.0 von 5 Sternen My absolute favourite book!, 5. Oktober 2007
Rezension bezieht sich auf: I Am the Messenger (Taschenbuch)
This book is amazing, Zusak has a great way of telling a story. There is no way to put this book down once you've started, the characters are so deep and the story is so beautiful you just have to keep going.
The story is unconventional and surprisingly profound for a young adults' book, which I found very refreshing. A must-read!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Magnificent!, 15. September 2007

This book is one of my very favourites. It is the story of an English couple which has moved to France and their struggles with the French bureaucracy, getting their house finished and freezing in the chilling winds of the mistral. But it is also about the joys of French cuisine, lovely neighbours and the stunning provencal landscape. It is truly a masterpiece. It is wonderfully written, laugh-out-loud funny at times and always beautiful. A must read!
