This is a very engaging story that is insightful, thought-provoking and entertaining. It is also a page turner that sucks you in from the very opening pages all the way to the end. I came out of reading The Sense of Ending feeling I know Tony's life inside out. Not that many books delve into marriage, love, parenthood and friendship with so much ease and understanding as The Sense of Ending. It reminds me of the historical saga Disciples of Fortune in so many ways. The philosophical side of the story brought up deep questions that are answered in a subtle way in the course of the story. I find this book very entertaining and insightful. It is not only for those who have experienced the complexities of life, but even for those who are yet to face some of the many unexpected things life throws at us.

One can tell how much research and work has gone into writing this wonderfully, exciting and fascinating book. The descriptions are clever and well written, and the story is paced the right way to keep the reader turning one page after another until the end of the story. The overall presentation of intriguing and colorful characters, catch phrases, intrigues, a succinct plot, appropriate dialogue and a well-observed narrative gave this story its peculiarity. The style is rare, recently seen in Triple Agent Double Cross. I applaud Brad Thor for this wonderful work.

So much of the subject matter of this book is realistic. It is a fascinating blend of current events and realistic plot, which though intricate, spins the reader with consistent developments and subplots that abound in the story. The characters are also very believable. It reminds me of Triple Agent Double Cross, another thriller with similar development and pattern. I cannot wait for the next one.

Ice Station: A Scarecrow Novel 1
Ice Station: A Scarecrow Novel 1

Ice Station is a good read. It is one of those books to read as a source of escape when you are in the train, plane or any other time consuming movement. Not a story with a great deal of intellectual strength. An action packed thriller that involves lots of explosions, guns, fighting etc. Fast-paced and adrenaline stirring, this gun-blazing, heroic action book is capable of holding any lover of thrillers from beginning to end.

The plot begins with a team of US Marines led by the Shane Schofeild who answers a distress call at a remote Antarctic research station based on the worries of some scientists who found a possibly alien object deep beneath the ice, a discovery that caused the lives of two of their divers .Even before Schofeild and friends start an investigation, they suddenly themselves at risk from everybody. It isn't only the USA that is interested in the discovery. Several other countries are interested in having a stake in the ship, at all cost. That involves killing, and destroying for it. That is where the adrenaline starts flowing in the gun battles that ensued, the hilarious characters, actions and conspiracies.

I just read it after Flash of the Sun, and like the plot of the stories. Here Reilly captured it all. To show that he's the master of the plot twist, Reilly throws includes a series of gripping narratives and hair spinning encounters that includes a fighter jet that turns invisible, a far-reaching government conspiracy, a hovercraft chase, and a scientist framed for murder. The plot carries no serious moral statement. If you like unusual military thrillers, this is your pick

This very fascinating book is as revealing as it is educative, insightful and entertaining. Not only did Ronald Hessler introduce us to the workings of the bigger than life Hoover whose legacy is controversial for the good he did to his country, but also to the damages he wrought on its citizens, he did so in a way that made reading it pleasurable. Spanning several decades, this book takes us into the world of intelligence and the conflicts involving the different branches, than few other books have done.

But the most interesting aspect of the book is the way it delved into and dealt with the current intelligence threats facing America---from economic, terrorist, military and ideological. The global nature of it makes reading all the more good coming with knowledge of current world dynamics. I just read Triple Agent Double Cross, The Triple Agent before reading this book, so it gave me a better perspective of the threat of global terror. Overall, this is a book that needs to be read a second time, if not more than twice.

Clive Cussler has revealed once again his mastery of adventurous and thrilling stories. As usual, the plot is a fast-paced one, moving so quickly that the reader is not given the opportunity to notice any flaws. I loved the rugged nature of the characters. The plot is amazing, far-reaching and creates a sense of disbelief. Alaska, Korea, Japan.....the scope is wide. This story gives me every reason to continue placing the works of Cussler as must-reads. It comes on the heels of Triple Agent Double Cross, another action-packed story that I enjoyed. Overall, Cussler's stories have turned out to be quick reliefs from more serious works. And they are good page-turners too. If you liked Cussler's earlier books, then here is another to enjoy. The dialogue is great. Once started, you won't want to put it down. The story flows.

The Last Juror

The good thing about this book is that it is a light-hearted story to read. It is a fast-paced book. I consider it to be one of Grisham's best. Grisham returned to legal thriller with style after his most recent books (Bleachers, Painted House, etc.). The Juror is presented through the eyes of the local newspaper editor. Like all Grisham books, it comes to a very sudden and abrupt ending, but for a change, it doesn't deviate from the story .In this novel John Grisham has created an intense, fascinating and revealing study of a small southern town, and created lively characters that developed with the story. His details are plentiful. Before reading this, I read Disciples of Fortune, another historical fiction; so for now, this genre that was not at the top of my list has a place there now. I like lovely historical fictions that stir the adrenaline flow.

I was introduced to John Sandford's works a fair few years ago and Silken Prey happens to be his third work that convinced me of his talent as a writer. It is a very captivating story from the very on. The characters are deep and drew me in straight away. I liked Lucas Davenport from the get go. His flair reminds me of a character in Triple Agent Double Cross.I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can't wait to read more of John Sandford's stories.

Thrillers, suspense and crime stories are my usual genres, but when a friend recommended Disciples of Fortune, and Better Days Will Come, I thought I should make these sagas my reads for the week. I am glad I did. Now I will take her future recommendations seriously. Better Days Will Come is a full story we can relate to. This story of Love, Grief, Betrayal, Faith, Forgiveness, Recovery, Tenacity, Evil and Good, Impunity and Corruption, Integrity and Honor, is a must read. It is well plotted and well written, and comes with marvelous characters.

I like hilarious reads and this month has been a good one for me. I decided to make my weekend a relaxing one and starting off with The Oaf (Things Happen), and then capped it with Adam Carolla's Not Taco Bell Material. The characters are witty and serve their purposes pretty well. The pace is fast and the descriptions succinct. On top of all of that, the writing is smooth and the lines made it the fun book that it is. This book of a beautiful mind deserves all the credits it has been given.
