All the Queen's Men
All the Queen's Men
von Linda Howard
  Gebundene Ausgabe
Preis: EUR 22,57

5.0 von 5 Sternen As good if not better than her previous books, 2. August 1999
Rezension bezieht sich auf: All the Queen's Men (Gebundene Ausgabe)
I think this book by Linda Howard is even better than I expected precisely because she has expended beyond pure Romance. The reason being that pure Romance gets tiring after a while while Linda Howard always evolve hers for better. "All Queen's Men" has all the hot erotic nature of romance and the suspense and exitement of other genera. I highly recommand this book.

5.0 von 5 Sternen One of my all time favorite, 20. Juni 1999

I found this book in a used bookstore about 8 years ago and I was hoked on Ann Maxwell from then on. The reprinted edition placed her book in the Romance section when in reality it is a Science Fiction with romantic twists. The story is beautiful, romantic, imaginative and it definitely touched my soul everytime I read it. Rather than the regular complacent romance novels with their common plotlines, this book got me hooked from the getgo. So if you're into science fiction, fantasy, this book will not disapoint. If you're a romance fan, this book is way better than any romance novel and you will love it. Anyone who give it a 3 stars is either lacking in imagination or too lazy to exercise his or her mind in a great book. Now, my only problem is finding all her other out-of-print SF novels.
However, for those of you who might be confused, to simplify, the author depicts a universe where men and women are born with soulmates who, if they are luck enought, will find each other through endless lifetimes. the world Sharia and Kane came from has a millions of years old civilization. the people have either 4, 5, or 6 fingers on each hand. One of its taboo is that those with the same # of fingers are forbidden to touch. More importantly, their culture forbid those who are soulmates to touch or mate and exiles the male counterparts offworld. The reason for this taboo is a prophesy that one day, there will be a pair of soulmates who, if they touch, will destroy the universe with the unleshing of their combined power. You can figure out who the couple is...

5.0 von 5 Sternen entertaining, 12. Mai 1999
I highly recomand the book to any fantasy reader and anyone else. This book is even better than the Stone Prince with complex characters and great storyline. The events are fast paced and ever fascinating.
This book is about religious conflicts between the Essusian and the Triach which is the Living Flame housed in each of Aristok of Branion. The storyline begins at a time when of Essusian kings who, for the past 150 years, has denied the Living Flame inside them which gives them the right and power to rule Branion. The present monarch, Marsellus DeMarian is another DeMarian Aristok who has denied the Flame.
So now, Llewellynne ap Rowena, the fighting Prince and a Seer in the neighboring kingdom of Gwyneth was given a vision by the Flame which instructs her bearing the first child of the Aristok, a child who is willing vassel of the Living Flame and who can lead the Triarctic forces back to victory in Branion.
Thus, Llewllynne succeeds in her mission and gives birth to a son named Rhys, who grew up, together with his brother Llewen (Llewllynne's son with her husband) to wrestle back the power of the land.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Absolutely Fantastic!!!!! So good that it melts my bone., 14. März 1999
After much anticipation, I've finally gotten my hot little hands on this book. And folks, it's not good, it's Fantastic!!!! Beyond words. This second installment picks up right Jaenelle's brush with death and continues on until...that's right, she came into her full glorious power as Witch. Along the way, I laughted, cried, and laughted as Ms. Bishop took us through a fasinating journey. All of those friends in the Forbidden Territory that was refered to in the first novel comes to light. And you will love them. But beware, you will cry for Daemon and others...just as surely you will feel the tenticles of hope at the end of this book and desperately wish that the third book would come out right away. I just spent 6 continuous hours reading this book and it felt like minutes...ah well, I guess I must somehow wait for the third installment...but Ms. Bishop, HURRY!!!

5.0 von 5 Sternen The most fascinating series in her Darkover Saga, 22. Dezember 1998
This book and the 2 before it are three of the best science fiction/fantasy books I've ever read. They're so good that I finished reading all 528 pages in one day. Of course, I stayed up until seven O'Clock in the morning finishing it. But this is the power this book had for me.

5.0 von 5 Sternen exceedingly exciting, 21. Dezember 1998
I think that this is one of the best Science fiction novel ever written. And having read many of them, I can definitely vouch for "Catch the lightning." The author's ability to combine conceivable scientific achievement with real human emotions is one of the reason why I think this is a book worthy of anyone's time. Highly recommended.

The Uncrowned King: The Sun Sword #2
The Uncrowned King: The Sun Sword #2
von Michelle West
  Taschenbuch
Preis: EUR 5,97

5.0 von 5 Sternen fascinating, 5. August 1998
this is the second book in the Sun Sword series and I like it even better than the first book because l find Valedan and Kiriel's character a lot more fascinating. But no matter what, Michelle West creates a complex world filled with traditions, demons, gods, love, honor...all the good stuff that makes a great fantasy novel. I recommand it highly.
