Harlan Coben at his best, 4. April 2013
Perfect stand alone with typical Coben twists and humor. It is the intensity of Cobens art of writing that fascinates me. Read it non-stop.

The Deutsche Professor von Igelfeld, 19. November 2011
Mccall Smith's humour is fabulous. I wonder wether we Germans (and professors as a special species) are really seen like described by him, but even if not, you will love this book. As with Mma Ramotswe of Botswana, Mccall Smith never crosses borders to violate dignity, but plays wonderfully with all to human failures and secret desires, to always come to a good end. It is a non stop read and deserves 5 stars.

Lovable Mma Ramotswe, 18. Oktober 2011
This is the 12th and (for the time being) last of Mma Ramotswe's detective activities, and it is a much more a story of human caring for others than adventurous. He plays in a most kind way with the weaknesses with his heroes and never let one really down, regardless of their failures. Mccall Smith's humour is affectionate and in reality he expresses no less than his endless love for wonderful Botswana and their humble people and make you want to visit that country (which I do early next year!) Once you start reading one of his novels, you want to read them all and even long for more; it is addictive. I would give him 5+ stars!

The original Cussler is better!, 20. November 2009
Quick and entertaining read, but not the real Clive Cussler. With his Co-writers his novels drift into mediocracy (only Jack du Brul was quite good). I have read ALL Cive Cusslers, but my interest starts to fade. Three stars contain already some goodwill.

Nice, but as always, 22. August 2009
It's a quick read, and as unrealistic but fun as always. CC should rather write himself or stop publishing with a co-author. The original is always better. Three or three and a half stars.

Past his prime, 17. Februar 2009
Grisham has certainly not lost his talent for writing joyful readings, but obviously run out of stories. This is a plot that is neither realistic at any time nor satisfying because it leaves nothing but loose ends and is a zillion miles below the standard we were used to. Painful, after so many good books. Is he past his prime?

The Onion Field, 9. Februar 2009
This is a heartbreaking (true) story about the normal life of US cops and small criminal loosers accidentially intertwinwed and thereby changing all their lives forever. The normality on the one side and the hardly understandable US justice system on the other side makes this story unreal and thereby even more frightening because it all really happened. Wambaugh is a not only a gifted writer, but a careful observer with sufficient distance to the people involved. Although this is an "old" book, is has lost nothing of its deep and gripping impressions and derserves 5 stars.
