In 1981, they were beginning to access the threat. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys play married KGB spies. No one would ever know they are Russian spies. They live in a perfect neighborhood and have two children. They blend in perfectly. Of course, the children are Americans and have no idea what their parents do. I think this show has a lot of potential. I will be interested to see how it plays out and what complications arise for Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings, especially now that their neighbor is an FBI agent. It's nice revisiting the past. 4.0 von 5 Sternen Redneck Humor, 25. März 2014
In short, "Duck Dynasty" is one of the new brand of reality programs that adheres to a pretty expected format. Shows that employ a similar formula can be found all over the cable airwaves on channels such as Lifetime, A&E, and even History. I mention this up front because, like many of its cousins, this is a show that you will absolutely love or violently despise. It introduces the Robertsons, a Louisiana bayou clan that has built a sporting goods business empire called Duck Commander. They are living the dream as an unlikely success story. As you might anticipate, though, this family is populated by wacky eccentrics espousing down home wisdom. Are you laughing with the Robertsons or at the Robertsons? And does it really matter?

As with the other shows in this genre, many of the escapades seemed designed for TV (as opposed to being natural). Once again, though, I'm not sure that it matters. The hook is that you want to see this clan (that you might describe as hillbilly or redneck) thrive in humorous ways. Although everyone in the family is quite different, there is an underlying respect and love that makes this warmer and more affectionate than you might think possible. Either the show is for you or not. If you've never seen an episode, I might suggest catching one on TV where they rerun frequently or watching one on-demand here to see if it is to your liking. And if you love the show, nothing else matters.

The first thirteen episodes from the second season of THE LOVE BOAT. Welcome back aboard the Pacific Princess, where lovely cruise director Julie McCoy (Lauren Tewes), Captain Stubing (Gavin MacLeod), Dr. Adam Bricker (Bernie Kopell), Purser "Gopher" Smith (Fred Grandy), and lively barman Isaac Washington (Ted Lange) will ensure that all your entertainment needs are met.

The second season gets off to a strong start in a movie-length opener, "Marooned / The Search / Isaac's Holiday", where several passengers are taken hostage by an eccentric old hermit (played by John Astin) during a day-stop. Isaac attempts to impress guest star Lola Falana by passing himself off as a millionaire; and a young woman is reunited with her estranged birth mother. Guests for this special story include Edie Adams, David Birney, Audra Lindley, Laraine Day and Donna Mills.

Co-producer Douglas Cramer always maintained that the secret to THE LOVE BOAT's success was it's careful, constant mix of the three storylines - namely, a farce, a romantic comedy, and a "warmedy" (Cramer's term, not mine). Surely, a lot of the audience appeal was the roster of guest stars - a fun combination of Hollywood greats, has-beens and five-minute-wonders. One of the more offbeat episodes included in this collection is "Ship of Ghouls", a special Halloween show, which has Iris Adrian, Joan Blondell, Vincent Price and Jane Kean, mixing it with Gary Collins and Mary Ann Mobley.

Throw on your finest Nolan Miller fashions and join the gang on the Fiesta Deck! The Pacific Princess will be departing soon!

If romance, a few laughs and lots and lots of T.V. and movie stars float your boat, then "The Love Boat" is for you.

In this second half of season two, Captain Stubing (Gavin MacLeod), Doc (Bernie Kopell), Isaac (Ted Lange), Julie (Lauren Tewes) and Gopher (Fred Gandy) join forces with a multitude of celebrities in several cute, litte stories within each hour-long episode. Joining them in the Acapulco Lounge are: Gilligan Island's Tina Louise, Martha Raye, the handsome Lyle Waggoner of "The Carol Burnette Show," "All My Children's" Debbi Morgan, Lisa Hartman of "Tabitha" and "Knots Landing", Raymond Burr, Dr. Joyce Brothers, Leslie Nielsen, Peter Lawford, Reggie Jackson, Cyd Charisse and many more.

Stories feature Gopher's trouble with his parents- played by Ethel Merman and Bob Cummings, Charo returning as April (who does a guitar/song/dance number to a strange but entertaining disco version of "The Love Boat" theme-I kid you not), and my favorite - Julie's high school reunion. Get out your leisure suits for a boogie wonderland, because this particular episode goes disco crazy and has some funny and inexcusable dancing going on.

There are 12 episodes here of great quality. These shows make you unwind and relax. They're care-free and fun. I hope they release more of these!!

With a global audience of over 125 million, Downton Abbey Season 4 is probably the most anticipated show this year. This number of followers is set to increase as Chinese State TV has, apparently, just started to broadcast it, although what the average Chinese television viewer will make of the antics of the Crawleys I shudder to think! This time round we pick up six months on from the tragic end to the Series 3 Christmas Special.

Downton has moved with the times, and, as usual, great care has been taken to make the setting, including all the small details, correct for the period. Hence clothes and hair styles have changed and advances in technology, such as the telephone and even new fangled electric kitchen gadgets are evident. The cast has all the significant characters who survived the last series, so Maggie Smith continues as the matriarch who dominates every scene she is in, and Shirley MacLaine makes a welcome reappearance after her all too brief involvement in the previous series. Seeing her sparring with Maggie Smith must be one of the more memorable aspects of this show. There are some new faces to look out for, one of whom is Kiri Te Kanawa, the New Zealand opera singer as well as a couple of other well known characters in cameo roles.

More of the scenes this time round have been filmed on location in London. Meanwhile at Downton itself, the antics and interaction of those `below stairs' continues to contribute some very interesting story lines and their trials and tribulations are, in many ways, one of the most interesting aspects of the show. Above stairs initially Lady Mary is, understandably, rather subdued whilst Lady Edith really seems to be coming into her own having, perhaps, been somewhat overshadowed previously. The producers have publicly promised no more deaths, at least for a while, but I will not be giving away any key parts of the plot here as I certainly do not want to spoil anyone's enjoyment!

Downton Abbey has certainly continued to go from strength to strength and has confounded those critics who thought it would peter out after a couple of series. If you enjoyed the previous seasons then Season 4 is unlikely to disappoint, and there is every sign that the show is set to continue. I do not believe any announcement has been made about Season 5 yet but apparently some of the key figures have already signed contracts for it. However, personally I would not be surprised to see it run up to the 1930s in due course. I certainly hope so!

A very original series, fun and the crime solving is top notch, Sherlock (Johnny Lee Miller) is brilliant and his counter part Miss Watson (Lucy Lui)is a wonderful change to the original male character Dr. Watson. A great twist on an old story. Definitely a Keeper....A Class Act.....

The dynamic between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Joan Watson was a surprise. I was concerned the gender switch of Dr. Watson was being done just for the sake of novelty, but Lucy Liu brings a very good balance to the role. Her take on Dr. Watson blends admiration for Sherlock's talents with repudiation of his lack of tact and regard for others.

This version of Sherlock Holmes is also distinctive from other incarnations beyond simply the change of locale to New York city. Jonny Lee Miller's portrayal of Holmes is fresh and compelling. He manages to bring a quiet intensity to the portrayal while still capturing Holmes' penchant for tantrums. Miller's Holmes is driven not only by his need to solve puzzles/homicides, but by his desire to see justice served. Miller judiciously lets Holmes facade of confidence and imperiousness slip just enough to give us glimpses of the character's vulnerability. He allows just enough of a peek behind the curtain so we can see the regard he holds for Watson while not devolving into a sentimentality that would rob the character of all credibility. Thank God it was renewed for a 2nd season.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Bones - Reaching for a new level ..., 21. März 2014
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Bones - Season Eight [6 DVDs] (DVD)
The air might have gone out of this series after forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan and FBI special agent Seeley Booth finally became a couple with a child last season. Happily for fans, the show has found new ways to keep things interesting and fun.

The end of the seventh season of "Bones" left Bones on the run with her infant child after being framed for murder by the highly skilled serial killer Christopher Pelant. The opening of the eighth season finds Booth and her colleagues at the Jeffersonian Institute trying to clear her name. Fortunately for the series, they succeed, although Pelant eludes justice to pose a future threat.

This eighth season continues to feature crime-of-the-week murders for Bones, Booth, and the Jeffersonian lab rats to solve through clever forensics and Booth's old-fashioned police work. One of the most interesting episodes is told through the eyes of the murder victim, with the assistance of a psychic (a well-cast Cindy Lauper). Another standout episode involves a group effort to resolve a cold case whose victim turns out to be a forgotten hero of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon.

Outside the lab, Bones has an uncomfortable but touching period of readjustment to living with Booth, after her time on the run. Her changed perspective will lead to some of the most interesting conversations as she and Booth commute to crime scenes. Just to complicate things, staff psychiatrist Dr. Sweets will temporarily move in with the couple right after he breaks up with girlfriend Daisy, a technician in the lab. Series regulars Angela and Hodgins will have their own challenges as working parents. The continuing parade of interns through the Jeffersonian crime lab will feature in several episodes, and one of them will become a surprising emotional complication for Dr. Saroyan. Christopher Pelant will return to menace the team in a gut-wrenching season finale.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Disappointing Season- Slow, Awkward Ending - a Complete Let Down of Expectations, 17. März 2014
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Dexter - Die achte Season [6 DVDs] (DVD)
I would have given this last season of Dexter one star, but out of respect for the series as a whole, I gave it three. I loved this series! I watched faithfully and never missed an episode. And when I heard this was the last season, I was so hoping that the writers would come up with a spectacular ending (not necessarily happy, but something suitably jaw dropping). What a disappointment!! This season (to put it in a word) STUNK! The pace was unbelievably slow and monotonous; you thought, surely, surely, the writers were just building up to a grand finale - but then the finale came and it was not grand, or jaw dropping.

So why do the characters fail so miserably in season 8? Very simply put- poor writing. There is no depth to the characters anymore as they have become flat, one dimensional caricatures. In the early seasons the players were complex and mysterious. Remember how you weren't sure who to root for in the LaGuerta/Matthews psychological battles? Dexter vs Doakes? Did you find yourself asking, "why am I rooting for the bad guy?" Well, that's the mark of excellent writing; the ability of the writer to toy with your emotions, to make you doubt your pre conceptions, to make you "feel." This level of engaging writing was non-existent in season 8.

Ironically, the only character who seems to become more complex in season 8 was Dexter. And this is not necessarily a good thing. Part of what made him an interesting character in the early seasons was his sheer simplicity. He holds very basic, primal motives, struggling to survive in a complex world of drama and emotion. The contrast is a thing of beauty; imagine a man who kills at will, but stands idly by while his girlfriend is harassed by her ex husband's drug dealer. And yet we still root for him. Amazing. Well, enter the Dexter of season 8 who is now more emotional than ever, complete with a short fuse and a softened heart. And less likeable than ever. By the midway point I had completely stopped rooting for him, and any time you stop rooting for a protagonist, the writer has lost you forever. Ultimately, I didn't care what happened to him.

A lot of people are disappointed with the final season, but I look at it this way- don't hold an entire series accountable for a bad finish. Take each season on its own merit, then go ahead and click "in den Einkaufswagen" on seasons 1, 2 and 3 usw. Whatever happened in this season does not diminish the greatness that the series once held.
I would wait for a reasonable price for a mediocre season! ( Ich wurde warten bis der Preis günstiger wird für diese mittelmäßige Staffel)
