The Oxford Dictionary is quite valuable for those who are interested in English writing. With the help of this edition it is more easy to compose texts varying in style and language. I personally recommend it to people with previous knowledge in English language and grammar and it would be better to use the book complementary to another dictionary. One thing that isn't optimal is the fact that you cannot use every synonym to express the same. That's something you have to pay attention to, so it is nothing for beginners. The last 90 pages offer you a "Lexicon of Hard Words" where you can find expressions for special names, e.g. lycanthrope (werewolf) or lepidopterist (sb. who collects or knows a lot about butterflies and moths) - words you won't even find in the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary.
