Die Story klingt interessant, aber beim lesen des Buchs stellt man schnell fest, dass es nicht um mehr als hohles Gelaber handelt. Die Autorin feiert und bemitleided sich im steten Wechsel und sorgt für Abscheu bei der Leserin bis hin zum Brechreiz. Eine wohlhabende New Yorkerin in der Sinnkrise begibt sich auf Weltreise, um Gott zu finden. Das ganze ist eine Zumutung für halbwegs intelligente Menschen, die nicht ihr Leben Ingnoranz zur Außenwelt verbracht und entdecken, dass es neben dem amerikanischen Vorstadtidyll tasächlich eine Realität gibt. Diese entdeckt die Autorin und schreibt darüber in peinlichster Weise und nennt das dann spirituelle Findung- Schwachsinn. Finger Weg!

In preparation for my trip to san francisco I read Maupin's Tales 1-3. Though written in the 1970's it does not appear as tome but as a light and hilariously and up-to-date read. This is no demanding read but especially to get a feeling for sf it's indispensable. I really enjoyed reading them.

best travel guide i've ever had. there is really almost everything in it you would ever ask for on a low-budget trip. really useful and written objectively.

this is a great book with quite powerful descriptions of what's going on in darfur.

however, if you know exactly which countries you're traveling to a specific country guide might be better- therefore the lonely planet country guides are to be recommended as well.
