One of the two things I found great about this Lean book in particular is that it starts off by explaining the principles of Lean Start-up, Design Thinking and how this ‘gave birth’ to the principles of Lean UX. Jeff treated all his readers as Lean beginners and that is great; regardless if you really are one, or you've been applying the concepts for several years now, you’ll find the beginning of the book really useful.
The second great thing about this book is that you can see it as a quick guide on how to be a Lean Intrapreneur – applying the Lean Start-up methodology in the enterprise. I guess this will make a great tool or at least serve as a stepping stone for anyone looking to make an enterprise lean from within. If you think these are just some big words about Jeff’s book, here’s last chapter’s title: Making Organizational Shifts. If you still don’t believe me, here’s what the chapter’s covering: shifting from output to outcomes, moving from limited roles to collaborative capabilities, embracing new skills, creating cross-functional teams, creating small teams, creating open collaborative workspace, not relying on heroes, valuing problem solving, managing up and out etc etc etc. More about it: [...]
