4.0 von 5 Sternen Shocking......and, Very Complex., 16. Mai 2000
I found this book really difficult to justify. I don't really know if I enjoyed it or not. But, I certainly can appreciate the talent and expertise that went into writing it. I just don't know if have the knowledge to completely understand all the many complex and intriquing aspects of this story. Perhaps it could be due to my age (24) and not being able to relate to the subject matter in my own way. None the less, I can certainly understand the drama, shocking turn of events and emotional response that others have had to this book. This is a book that takes over a person and requires a lot of attention. Not a book to be taken lightly.

I'm pretty shocked at all the negative reviews about this book. I found it very creative and enjoyable. I liked it a lot...and, found the characters easy to like and had many fine qualities that I wanted to explore further. I found the setting to be well thought out and worked really well. All in all...a very pleasant experience.

This book is fabulous. What a riot...and, yet, SO helpful. Anything and everything you ever needed or wanted to know. And, it's done with such humor and sophistication. This book answers any entertaining, traveling, dating, smooching, being fabulous on a mintues notice, and disaster question you can think up. This is the best resource out there for all single (or married, actually) ladies who are at a loss of what do do when life throws you a curve ball. Heads up...this is a classic in the making!

4.0 von 5 Sternen A Nice and Mellow Book...., 16. Mai 2000
"The Answer is Yes" is a sweet and very entertaining book. It's no real triumph, and I don't think I would ever read it again, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. Because, I certainly did. The characters are interesting, the setting is enjoyable, and the plot is nice and easy. It's a fun book to take to the beach or have in your bag for those down times during the day. It's the type of book you can just pick up where you left off.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Packs A Real Punch!, 16. Mai 2000
This is a hard one to describe. It's no easy read, that's for sure. It's deep, emotional and most of the characters aren't very enjoyable. But, some how it all works. The story of one woman's life has (of course) been done countless times before, but never like this. You feel each painful minute and day for Ellen. Her trapped life inside that house breaks your heart. You just want to run in there and grab her, shake her, and get her out. It's amazing to see the sad and downward spirl of one woman's soul. This is a really good book, not easy, but very enjoyable. Take some time and savor it. You'll be very happy you did.

"Sweet Shrub" was such a surprise. This book looked like dripy ole' southern novel. BUT...how wrong I was. This book was deep, emotional and I loved the characters. DEEPLY. This is such a great book.....it's clear, enjoyable, and such a pleasant surprise.

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Novel to be Savored and Enjoyed!, 5. Mai 2000
"Possession" by A.S. Byatt is a novel unlike anything I've ever read. It's so stunning and powerful. It's totally amazing. Each word should be savored like chocolate. It's rich and enticing. This book is intelligent and sensitive. Completely thought provoking and inspirational. I fell in love with the characters and still think about them. That's the sign of a fabulous book. You carry the characters with you...long after you turn the last page. Such a wonderful book.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Heartbreaking But Still Disturbing...., 5. Mai 2000
This book broke my heart and I'm not even a mother yet. I can't imagine what it would be like if I were. The most horrifying thing happens. A child is kidnapped right from under your nose. What could be more scary? I can't think of a thing. This book successfully reveals those emotions. However, I do have a major problem with it. I felt very little sympathy for main character Beth. She was so cold and had no clue in regards to what her family needed. She was so selfish and ended up letting her whole family down. Older son Vincent was left to care for himself and baby sister Carrie. That poor child not only lost his brother but, he lost his mother too. The real story is Vincent and how he deals with the losses in his life.
"Deep End of the Ocean" has it's redeeming qualities and is a good read. The sympathy is just focused on a different character. At least for me.

The Taste of Summer: Inspired Recipes for Casual Entertaining
von Diane Rossen Worthington

Preis: EUR 18,05

5.0 von 5 Sternen A Wonderful Summer CookBook!, 5. Mai 2000
This book is full of delicious and appealing receipes for summer. It's wondefully put together, and so easy to follow. The receipes are easy enough that anyone (even those with little experience) could create wonderful and tastey meals. The photography is beautiful and it's enjoyably constructed. Highlights are the "Cold Lobster Salad" and the "Summer Squash Gratin" ...but, there are so many more that I can't wait to try. I recommend it to any cook out there!
