Currahee!: A Paratrooper's Account of the Normandy Invasion
Currahee!: A Paratrooper's Account of the Normandy Invasion
von Donald Burgett
  Gebundene Ausgabe

3.0 von 5 Sternen Good Begining., 6. Januar 2000
Burgett's first work Currahee is a great accomplishment of WWII writing only exceeded by his second book "Seven Roads to Hell." I thought the writing was a little sloppy and it was not as intense as his second book. I did enjoy my introduction to some of the men I remembered from his second book. If read in order I bet they would flow nicely together. I would like to see Burgett revise this narrative a little to improve the writing of the book. He has become such a great writer and story teller which is evident from his second book and now as I read his third book, it becomes even more apparent. I can not wait for his fourth work to be published!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Memory of D-Day alive and well!, 15. Dezember 1999
Stephen Ambrose has done it again. Not only has he preserved the D-Day experience in an unparralled fashion he has paid a lasting tribute through his research and writing to the men of D-Day. I recommend this book to all those interested in one of the most important days in human history. Well done Stephen Ambrose.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Best Book I have Ever Read., 15. Dezember 1999
Stephen Ambrose has written his finest work in Citizen Soliders. I have read over 100 Books on the Second World War and about the Men who fought in this conflict. This book remains atop my list. Ambrose, through the life experiences of U.S. and German troops who served in Europe during WWII, has vividly brought the war and the horrific battle experience into full view. For example the importance of american artillery and the 155mm Gun in breaking the German will to fight, is just one of the many interesting anecodotes. Anyone who wants to know what their grandfather's did to stop the Nazis should read this book. It's one of if not the best one on bookshelves today.
