4.0 von 5 Sternen Coole Idee für ein Buch, 27. Juni 2004

The Sirens of Titan: A Novel
The Sirens of Titan: A Novel
von Kurt Vonnegut
  Taschenbuch
Preis: EUR 10,90

2.0 von 5 Sternen Try something else of him, 26. Dezember 2001
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Sirens of Titan: A Novel (Taschenbuch)
As a simple summary: his other (later) work is much better. More ideas (though there are some nice ones here), more style and more sense in the Vonnegut-type insanity of the story.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Two Writers - Enough Quality And Ideas For Ten!, 11. November 2001
This book is the best fantasy I have ever read (and likely am going to read). I rate it higher than 'Lord of the Rings' or any other.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Unusual Heinlein - Heinlein goes Fantasy, 15. Juni 1998
Rezension bezieht sich auf: GLORY ROAD (Taschenbuch)
This strange ( but not bad ) book seems to be Heinleins take on Sword & Sorcery ( It is NOT Science Fiction ! ) as his hero ( the usual lovable Heinlein kind, always with a smart and amusing remark on his tongue ) follows a beautiful women on a quest into a wondrous multidimensional (fantasy-) universe. Heinlein succeeds in playing this genre, rather to my surprise, as evidenced in some scenes that seem almost like he lifted them from Tokien - they have the same kind of fairy-tale magic.
Well worth a read, if not among his greatest. But Heinlein shows that his scope goes far beyond his classic hard SF.

5.0 von 5 Sternen One of the 5 best Heinleins - A tale of a life full of joy !, 15. Juni 1998
Chronicling the life and loves of Maureen Johnson ( Mother of Lazarus Long ), this is unarguably one of the best Heinlein has ever written. Most of it ( about two-thirds ) is written in the first half of the 20th century, which in Heinleins opinion was one of the most wonderful times in history. In this tale about his charming, smart and sexy heroine he succeeds well in enthralling the reader. However, some prude souls may be shocked by the rather loose mores of Maureen, who succeeds in hiding her healthy sexual appetites from the snoopy and stuffy communities she lives in.
She is Heinleins Ideal of a Woman, smart, witty, always active and willing to learn, enjoying her life to the fullest.
The book gets a bit disorganized near the end, but has been one of the 10-20 best books I have ever devoured.

The Devil's Alternative
The Devil's Alternative
von Frederick Forsyth
  Taschenbuch

5.0 von 5 Sternen If you put this down, you must dead ( and cold ) already !, 15. Juni 1998
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Devil's Alternative (Taschenbuch)
This book is one of the best I have ever read. Forsyth tells his tale with such skill, that you almost believe the story is real. He has such a grasp on international politics and secret services, and such a masterful command of the storytelling art, that you have to page through this book no matter what other things you should actually be doing.
The suspense is rather high, and the story very complex without becoming either convulted or impossible. READ IT !
