Have you ever wondered and wondered about a spritual issue and did not know whom to ask? Needed clarification on a multitude of things boggling your mind day in and day out?
God works in mysterious ways and sends help through particular Christian writers like Max Lucado.
Max does not leave any stones unturned as one by one he addresses questions put forward to him by wondering and questioning souls likeyou and me.
Never think you are too great or too big to ask a question from one of God's chosen Ones.
Thank you Max. Good job. Keep on keeping on.

Prayer: Does it Make Any Difference?
Prayer: Does it Make Any Difference?
von Philip Yancey
  Gebundene Ausgabe
Preis: EUR 21,06

"Thus God flatly declares that, in addition to our private spiritual state, our social concern, (or lack of it) for the poor, for the orphans and widows- also have a direct being on how our prayers are received. Those who pay exploitative wages, who break marriage vows through adultery and divorce, who treat illegal immigrants badly, who refuse to share food with the hungry or provide shelter to the homeless, risk closing God ears to their prayers. As a twenty-first century American, those warnings cut me to the quick." P.YANCEY

I first read Philp Yancey sometime in the beginning to this century in
'The Jesus I Never Knew' and also bought one for a Christian friend in my workplace as a gift.
I have great respect for Mr.Philp Yancey as a Christian author, who is insightfully wise as well as being very down-to-earth with his readers.
He allows us to know about doctors he has interviewed who told him about accounts of healings that were beyond expectation.
He does not hide the truth from us readers even when it hurts, and this book has many examples of these truths.
This book is written for all Christians, and non Christian alike. For those who pray for healing, financial binds and other challenges for many Christians who pray generally and do not get answers.
Where are the answers?
Mr Yancey brings us to the answers, You will not get enough of this book.
There are answered prayer and unanswered prayer - see what he says about them. I am not putting any spoilers in this review but begging you to get wisdom and understanding from "Prayer ....does it make a difference."
Nevertheless the answer is yes.

5.0 von 5 Sternen A GREAT ACTRESS, 26. Oktober 2010
1 Academy Award
2 Screen Actors Guild Awards
3 Golden Globe Awards

I just had to see this movie as I have been thoroughly impressed by Angelina Jolie and her humanitarian work around the world. Action movies are not my thing but I wanted to support her work. As Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees; she gives a large part of her earnings to causes in the East, African nations and even in the Caribbean as she did for Haiti. She is concerned for the impoverished and needy children and as they benefit from her work, I wanted to be a part of that giving by paying to see her act.
May she continue to set this great example to other movie makers and celebrities worldwide.

Caribbean Cookbook
Caribbean Cookbook
von Rita G. Springer
Preis: EUR 11,56

5.0 von 5 Sternen A BLESSING INDEED,, 19. September 2010
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Caribbean Cookbook (Taschenbuch)
This cookbook is a great blessing for the newly wed, the bachelor, the chef who wants to expand on his expertise, the novice and for those who entertain regularly. It is also for The Gourmet internationally; who wants to see how Caribbean is prepared and taste w2ithout being here in the Caribbean. This book is enriched with recipes from Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, and the rest of our Caribbean nation.

Rita Springer is very expressive in her directions; if you just take your time and follow her guidelines slowly, you will gain confidence in your kitchen; and believe me all of us need this from time to time. We cannot cook every dish perfectly; we are good at some, and others of us are prepared to eat out in a restaurant particularly on weekends. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that but imagine when you are having a dinner at your home and you want to surprise your guests, you can pick the hints from the settings in the restaurant, and Caribbean Cooking well do the rest.

Check carefully the photos in this issue. They are to die for. This book comes highly recommended.

5.0 von 5 Sternen AN ATTACK ON THE MIND, 17. September 2010
"The Children of Israel spent forty years in the wilderness making an eleven day trip because they had a wilderness mentality."

When Satan launches an attack on our minds then we know that we are in the battlefield. This great book from Joyce Meyer will help thousands of people around the world suffering from constant depression and those of us looking for an answer to the negative attitudes that try to ruin our lives.

Designed for those with confused and worried minds, wandering and anxious minds, doubtful and unbelieving minds, judgemental, critical and suspicious minds, passive minds, they are all highlighted for our benefit.

Joyce Meyer writes this book with great authority love and patience, and she allows us to know that we are not alone in our fight against the enemy, and that there are answers for us. The answers have been written down in this wonderful teaching. And it is easy to learn from Mrs Meyer because she has experienced it all and she lets us know that. She does not talk down to us but she talks with us and I love that.

"If I were to see Cordelia again, what would I tell her about myself? The truth, or whatever would make me look good."

This novel started off at a fast pace and kept me glued to the pages. Elaine is the victim of the bullying of a group of three girls who are considered her friends. Although they are supposed to be friends they make Elaine a scapegoat for everthing that happens in the three girls' lives. She is obedient to their punishment, becasue she thinks she really deserves it. But suddenly one day that all changes and we are brought into the the future lives of these young women. Not a bad book but very detailed, and towards the end I was gettinga little weary of it.

Unfinished Desires: A Novel
Unfinished Desires: A Novel
von Gail Godwin
  Gebundene Ausgabe
Preis: EUR 25,05

5.0 von 5 Sternen STIMULATING, 22. August 2010
"Mother Mallory was vexed by the clumsiness that had come over her even as she descended the stairs of the train, taking caution with her long skirts when a nun wearing aviator sunglasses shot forward to claim her. Mother Ravenel was vigorous and handsome with a high coloured face and fine white teeth."

Gail Godwin's books are so wonderfully written and especially this one would make a great gift for any occasion. Stimulating and wrapped in mystery and wonder, the characters are so wonderfully and genuinely produced; like people we have already met. This book brings out the compassion in our hearts and causes us to empathize with these wonderful people. Well written, it held my attention until the last page and not to add any spoilers, I write highly recommending this great book. Hope there will be lots more to come.

5.0 von 5 Sternen PASSIONATE SINGING, WONDERFUL VOICE!!!,, 18. April 2010
Here is a young man with a big voice. Anyone hearing him without seeing him on his album would think they were listening to a grown man. His voice is deep and soulful, full of passion and ultra-rich, as he sings his heart out in the four languages of English, Spanish, Italian and French.
My favourite is of course You Raise Me Up sung in English, and I can hear it over and again and again it only makes the tune better, and of course Oceano sung in French.
What remarkable talent!!! What a remarkable voice!!! I love it.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Well Written And Very Impressionable, 7. April 2010
This is the first for me, reading a book by T. Coraghessan Boyle, and I was very impressed by his work.
This book is set in Los Angeles and focuses strongly on two couples from totally different social and economical backgrounds. Kyra and Delaney Mossbacher are the upper class Americans; while Candido and America Rincon are illegal immigrants from South of the border.....Mexico.

The Tortilla Curtain is the border between Mexico and Los Angeles which the immigrants cross illegally to find work as labourers and a better way of life in that state.

The Mexicans endure severe hardships for little money as they enter this country of the 'well to do'. Meanwhile the 'upper crust' are flourishing for all to see, their main problem being to keep the immigrants out. As much as they are rich and better off one begins to feel that the immigrant Mexican has a more contented heart. They seem fulfilled at times with a deep satisfaction, passion and feeling that the 'upper crust' are unable to project. They are poor.....but their spirits are strong and hard to break.

See what life becomes for these two couples from opposite sides of the track....and you will find these characters living in your memories for a long time. This is the type of book that one hates to finish. Get it for Christmas....I got mine. Well written and highly recommended!!
