5.0 von 5 Sternen Don't buy this book unless you want to change your life!, 17. Juli 2000
I bought this book in hardcover in 1995 and stopped reading after 2 chapters because I realized that if I kept reading I was going to have to change my life. I also realized I wasn't ready. If you approach this book conscientiously and use it as a tool, you truly can do anything you want with your life. That's a simultaneously scary and liberating thought. So, if you've just been "taking what they're giving 'cause you're working for a living," buy this book and get ready to be empowered.

Jupiter's Travels
Jupiter's Travels

5.0 von 5 Sternen You Need This Book!, 17. Juli 2000
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Jupiter's Travels (Taschenbuch)
Looks like a book about a guy riding a motorcycle around the world, doesn't it? Well, Jupiter's Travels is that and a whole lot more. It's an inspiring object lesson in turning a dream into reality. It's also a reminder that there are more good people than bad people in the world. Ted Simon's experience shows what wonderful things can happen when you finally realize you can't have a contingency plan for everything and that if you embrace risk and the unknown, you'll be the richer for it. I've ridden more than 200,000 miles on motorcycles, but I am in absolute awe of Mr. Simon. He's currently roving the U.S. on a yellow Triumph Tiger, writing his impressions for MOTORCYCLIST magazine and promoting his books. If he comes to your town, by all means, go to his lecture.

Old Man and the Sea
Old Man and the Sea

5.0 von 5 Sternen Yeah, like I could critique Hemingway..., 22. Oktober 1999
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Old Man and the Sea (Taschenbuch)
The thing that impresses me about Hemingway most is that he knew what he wrote about and, therefore, wrote with such confidence and authority as to dispel all doubt about the authenticity of his characters and what they did and what they thought and said. This book is an easy quick read and a good introduction to Hemingway. But don't stop there. Go back and read it again and notice how rich the detail is and how much you missed the first time through.

The Natural History of Big Sur (California Natural History Guides)
The Natural History of Big Sur (California Natural History Guides)
von Paul Henson
  Taschenbuch
Preis: EUR 27,50

5.0 von 5 Sternen Excellent key to understanding Big Sur, 8. September 1999
I've been up and down the PCH several times, but as a midwesterner, most of the flora and lots of the fauna were unfamiliar to me. On my next motorcycle ride through Big Sur, I'll see the place with new eyes thanks to this wonderful guide. Now I know those yellow flowers that splash color over the cliffs in mid-July are lizard tail. What were formerly just "rocks" and "birds" and "trees" now have names and personalities. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to better understand the amazing place that is Big Sur.
