Why Men Stray, Why Men Stay: What Every Woman Needs to Know about Making the Commitment Last
Why Men Stray, Why Men Stay: What Every Woman Needs to Know about Making the Commitment Last
von Susan Curtin Kelley
  Taschenbuch

1.0 von 5 Sternen An Insult to my Intelliegence, 16. Januar 1999
I was appalled by the tone and content of this book. It is no more than an attempt to excuse men for unfaithfulness and betrayal. I expected to learn why men stray, but also to learn ways to prevent, or heal, after this occurance. Instead the author stresses that men stray because they aren't happy at home, and that women should do all they can to keep the man satisified. This may be true, but the author offers no new information. Lots of exciting sex, oral sex, attention, etc... In short, be a doting wife and remember to keep the man first. This book sounds like it was written 50 years ago by a chauvinistic male. Not once does the author, who is female, blame the man for being unfaithful - it is all chalked up to "a man will be a man". This book says nothing new, interesting, or enlightening. You get advice like "never admit when you're right, but always admit when you're wrong",and make sure you always look good, remain exciting to him, etc... The burden of making the man not stray is placed on the women - completly on the woman. And if your man strays, then its all your fault. Its ridiculous. I guess the author doesn't know that a marriage takes two people working together in order for it to work.

Beauty for Ashes: Receiving Emotional Healing
Beauty for Ashes: Receiving Emotional Healing
von Joyce Meyer
  Taschenbuch

5.0 von 5 Sternen Inspiring !, 27. Januar 1998
"Beauty for Ashes" is a moving testimony to the power of faith. Unlike most self-help books, the author is not a psychiatrist. Everything she discusses is from personal experience. Meyer - a sexual abuse survivor - relates the emotional healing God bestows upon her, and the lessons she learns as a result. She outlines specific problems and shows how God will solve them if you work with Him. There are also Bible verses that support her inspirational message. The book is an easy read, and is not preachy or patronizing. Abuse survivors of any kind will benefit from reading this book.
