Family Reunion..., 20. November 2010
To get straight to the point: "Reversal" is not one of Connelly's best. The story is quite petty and contains many far-fetched elements.
The Story: Jason Jessup has been convicted on abducting and killing a 12 year old girl and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1986. After more than two decades the Supreme Court revised his conviction because of exculpatory DNA findings.
Mickey Haller is asked by the prosecution to cross the aisle and work as an accuser in the reversal. Haller agrees and puts his ex-wife Maggie McPherson as his second chair and his half-brother Harry Bosch as his investigator on the case as well. Jessup is set free and his mysterious nightly activities let fear the worst.
This setting would have allowed for a cracking good book, but the it story develops quite slowly and turns out to be a pretty regular courtroom drama with some rather implausible developments.
