5.0 von 5 Sternen A Programming Manual for the Human Brain, 17. April 2000
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Psycho-Cybernetics (Taschenbuch)
How many other books are still in print with a 1978 edition, even though newer editions are available?
Maxwell Maltz understood how we have something analogous to a computer inside our brains. Try manipulating a robot arm to pick something up -- you'll see how many steps are involved. But with our own arms, we can pick stuff up without thinking about it, because all the instructions are preprogrammed.
This programming affects our entire life. The self-esteem movement doesn't even begin to cover the power involved, even though self-esteem would be useless without it. Even Maltz's term of self-image is too tame.
You have been programmed since birth. Maybe it was done well, maybe not. In either case, you owe it to yourself to do your own reprogramming, setting the goals that are important to you. Psycho-Cybernetics will show you how.

5.0 von 5 Sternen A good, technical but speculative look at space colonization, 10. April 2000
I spent a lot of time and money on other books on space colonization; when I finally got around to reading this one, it nicely summarizes everything else I had read. If you want something less technical and more mythological, check out The Millennial Project by Marshall T. Savage. Also, he comes down squarely against the existence of extraterrestrials. Most importantly, Savage understands that the true future of humanity lies in adapting to weightless environments, not skipping from gravity well to gravity well like some floundering fish. What Savage doesn't have is the solid background in engineering rockets that Zubrin has, so this book is much better for the technically minded.

I was deeply affected by The Tracker -- after reading it, when I went to look at the stars in the winter, the cold didn't bother me as much. I didn't expect this to be better, but it most definitely is. If you've ever struggled with why humans exist on this planet when we're so capable of destroying it, you should get this book immediately and read the chapter entitled "The Tree Speaks". There are many other gems of native wisdom in here as well.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Not Too Flashy, 11. März 2000
This book is a good example of not judging a book by its cover, which is the only "pretty picture" it has. He appears to be all over the map, discussing the history of space exploration, planetary science (which seems to be his specialty), and economic possibilities. However, if you want to make money in outer space, it all fits together. Otherwise, you'll probably find a chapter or two you love and a chapter or two you'll hate.

The Classic Wheat for Man Cookbook: More Than 300 Delicious and Healthful Ways to Use Stoneground Whole Wheat Flour
The Classic Wheat for Man Cookbook: More Than 300 Delicious and Healthful Ways to Use Stoneground Whole Wheat Flour
von Vernice Rosenvall
  Taschenbuch

4.0 von 5 Sternen Truly a classic, 21. September 1999
No fancy pictures, simple recipes, and probably everything you'd ever want to know about wheat (except maybe to grow it). Not just bread, cakes, cookies, and cereals, but meats, casseroles, vegetables, soups, sauces, and desserts. The only problem is the recipes might be difficult for the beginning cook.

I took a survival course from Christopher Nyerges (also a fine author), and he told us about the man who learned survival in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey from an old Native American. I was delighted when I stumbled across his books. I've heard that shamans can change the world with their words; after reading this, I believe it. Unless you are completely dedicated to exploiting the earth, I highly recommend this book.
