The Art of Woo: Using Strategic Persuasion to Sell Your Ideas
The Art of Woo: Using Strategic Persuasion to Sell Your Ideas
von G. Richard Shell
  Taschenbuch
Preis: EUR 15,29

4.0 von 5 Sternen Great topic! Lacks specifics., 31. August 2012
Verifizierter Kauf(Was ist das?)
What I do not like about the book is this: I read the book with a lot of attention and made notes. I also able to remember most things from the book. But there are only few things I learned from the book that use in daily life! I would have appreciated the book to be less abtract and more concrete.

But the book is on a great topic: how to woo other people over!
The books does use a lot of examples.
Thus you probably will enjoy the book but do not expect to become an overnight success at "the art of woo".

3.0 von 5 Sternen Nice stories, no specific viral marketing advice, 31. August 2012
Verifizierter Kauf(Was ist das?)
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Viral Loop (Taschenbuch)
The book is a collection of interesting stories written in a way almost like fiction. So it makes for nice reading.
However, if you are looking for getting ideas on how to outdo your competion or even specifc recipes on how to make your online product viral, the book will not help you!

3.0 von 5 Sternen Good overview but lack in depth, 31. August 2012
Verifizierter Kauf(Was ist das?)
The book talks about the basics of marketing:
have a clear value proposition that is reflected in everything you do
know your target market
set right price
competitor analysis
etc.
however the knowledge is just marketing basics. The book fails to show how to apply it to the app marketing.
The book gives overview over many important points to consider:
right graphics
right app name
right description
making a press release
buying ads
but he almost does not mention how to execute any of these measures! I would have loved to gotten to know how to write a press release specifically for an app that gets published! Or specific addressed of news reported or people in the app store, or at least where to find them! Or explanations on all the options on has for making the description better specifically. For example how many images can be used, can videos be used, does it make sense to have links to product website?
In short the books give a nice overview but fails to give you any marketing strategies or ideas that can make you outdo your competition!

4.0 von 5 Sternen no new concepts, but well illustrated, 10. Dezember 2011
Verifizierter Kauf(Was ist das?)
The book did not contain any revolutionary new concepts. It could be summarized in one sentence: 'Make sure that users want the product before you build it!'. Should be quite obvious!
But if you are a tech guy and you think that have an idea for a product that you want to build, that you think will revolutionize the world, you might want to read this book first to make sure you are not wasting too much money!
Also this book has many interesting examples, that illustrate the importance of the concepts.
