London, in Limbo

My name is Shaun Girling and I have lived in Germany for seven years now. 'London, in Limbo' is my first novel and is set exclusively in 'The Kennedys', a north London café, over a three-week period sometime in the early 2000s. Craig tries to piece together his life which has recently fallen apart and becomes a regular, finding himself drawn to and challenged by the staff and the other regulars. Happy reading.

Hello. I am an American writer who, like others here, noticed that my book was being downloaded (and enjoyed, hopefully) in Germany. My debut novel, Khe, is a dystopian science fantasy set in another world. There are no human characters. The beings, their world, and their way of life is unique to them. I blush to say this, but Khe has been compared to Issac Asimov's Foundation books and to Ursula LeGuin's "The Left Hand of Darkness." If you enjoy a story that is off the beaten track but not so odd that you can't relate to it, give Khe a try. Thank you.

When 15 year old Cassandra Miller is taken away from her abusive father, she is placed in the care of a family who has many secrets to hide, among them the fact that they are Merpeople with a long history of luring humans into the water to kill them.

Everything appears to be perfect but she sees telltale signs that things may be too good to be true.

Her new family, the Morgans, are obsessed with water but forbid her to go near it. Water is everywhere she looks, surrounding her. Lake Superior is her new backyard and aquariums make up the inside walls of her new house. Oddly enough they seem to be having fish everyday for lunch.

The Sons of Thor, a group of five young men, have sworn to protect humankind with their lightning bolts. They have an understanding with the Morgans, that they will leave them alone as long as they leave humans alone.

Now that the Morgans have taken a human into their home to raise as their daughter, the agreement is broken.

Eric, one of the Sons of Thor, has fallen in love with Cassandra. He wants to take her away from them but they have the law on their side and he can't admit who they are without admitting who he is.

The two groups will have to set their differences aside and work together to protect Cassandra from her father, who is at large and wants his daughter back.

Cassandra just wants a chance to be a normal child. She doesn't want to jeopardize the love of her family for a mere guy.

Daughter of the Oceans is told in first person from both Cassandra's and Eric's prospective.

Hello, German cousins. And, yes, despite my name I do have some German in my ancestry. Before I mention my books, I'd like to introduce myself. I recently dismissed my small publisher and went indie. Because of this, I'm able to offer my work at a substantially lower price. I write women's fiction/romance, but it's not the silly kind of romance. My stories revolve around families and the problems they face raising children and staying in love. If this kind of story appeals to you, please check out my opening chapters. Thank you for reading this. And now to my books.

Hi, I'm an Australian writer living in Vienna. My name is Sylvia Petter. I've written three collections of short stories and have had stories included in various charity anthologies. The publisher of my first collection, The Past Present (2000/20001 - we were a little ahead of the times with ebook and POD) went bust, so I Kindled it last year. There are still a few copies with secondhand sellers, but I'm planning to bring out the paperback. The publisher of my second collection, Back Burning, is based in Australia. In Australia, there is tax on books, so the prices are a bit high. I have just released my third collection, Mercury Blobs, with another publisher in Australia. It is now available in Kindle and in paperback and Ive managed to get the prices much lower. A couple of my stories have appeared in German, but although I'm fluent, I still get tied up in my "der-die-das". I'm working on the revisions of two novels, but those revisions need time. Novels aren't easy, but neither are short stories. Each new story is a new adventure. I'd be pleased to discuss my work and how I go about it.

My Amazon author page is at and there are links to my blog and to Twitter. I also have a page on Facebook at where I post writing-related things about competitions and events and anything to do with the writing process. You are very welcome to come and have a look.

Gaspar And The Fantastical Hats

Gaspar And The Fantastical Hats is a new fantasy adventure by David A. Lindsay.

Life isn't easy in a cut-throat city ruled by guilds, especially for a freelance thief who refuses to swear fealty to the local thieves' guild.

Beset by thieves and threatened by assassins, Gaspar is forced into a madcap hunt for a magical artefact. Confronted by danger at every turn, he and his friend, Hubris the Spellbroker, become entangled in a bizarre web of intrigue, politics and outlandish fashion. They soon realise that they are just pawns in a greater game, but who is their real adversary and how can they disentangle themselves without ending up seriously dead?

This humorous fantasy novella (28,500 words) is a prequel to the novel, Gaspar The Thief (126,000 words), also by David A. Lindsay.

Hamburg 1947: A Place for the Heart to Kip 0,89

A True Story written by a 90 year old RAF Veteran

Harry Leslie Smith's second memoir, Hamburg 1947: A Place for the Heart to Kip is a love story in my mind and it's just brilliant. -Judging covers

One of the most worthwhile features of Hamburg 1947: a place for the heart to kip is its portrayal of life as a member of an occupying force in a conquered city... his descriptions of the devastated city have an unforgettable lyric beauty.-Indie E-Book Review

"I did not expect to have compassion for the German population after WWII, but I was shocked at the conditions the non-war-criminal average citizens of Germany lived with during the Occupation of the Allies in Germany"

The memoir is well written, with a compelling story that carried me along steadily. I like to find at least one reviewing pinprick, although it's difficult this time. The book ends with a cliff-hanger, making me wonder what came next. In all, I cannot recommend this memoir highly enough.-The Kindle Book Review

Twenty-two years old and ready for peace, Harry Leslie Smith has survived the Great Depression and endured the Second World War. Now, in 1945 in Hamburg, Germany, he must come to terms with a nation physically and emotionally devastated. In this memoir, he narrates a story of people searching to belong and survive in a world that was almost destroyed. Hamburg 1947 recounts Smith's youthful RAF days as part of the occupational forces in post-war Germany. A wireless operator during the war, he doesn't want to return to Britain and join a queue of unemployed former servicemen; he reenlists for long term duty in occupied Germany. From his billet in Hamburg, a city razed to the ground by remorseless aerial bombardment, he witnesses a people and era on the brink of annihilation. This narrative presents a street-level view of a city reduced to rubble populated with refugees, black marketers, and cynical soldiers. At times grim and other times amusing, Smith writes a memoir relaying the social history about this time and place, providing a unique look at post-WWII Germany. Hamburg 1947 is both a love story for a city and a passionate retailing of a love affair with a young German woman.

Hello everyone. The winter may be on the way out, but why not treat yourself by immersing your mind in stories set in the humid heat of the West African coast or the dry heat of the northern deserts. I have books on Kindle (and paperback except the novellas) they're all set in West Africa during the turbulent sixties and have great reviews.

The Up-Country Man Memoir 180k words. A personal account of the first one hundred days trapped inside secessionist Biafra (Nigerian Civil War). Second Edition.

The Last Bature (Batuuree) Fiction 102k words. The last white police officer in a failing ex-British colony faces many threats when he tries to avert a national catastrophe.

Tribal Gathering Short stories 104k words. Greed, jealousy and ignorance are just some of the subjects in eight stand-alone stories with a twist.

The Mine My latest book. Fiction. 110k words. A British "diplomat" and a senior African police officer investigate a mass kidnapping, which leads to much more in a failing ex-British colony. A thriller/adventure story set in a background of secession, civil war and breathtaking corruption.

I have extracted three of the stories from Tribal Gathering as tasters, available at 89c each.
Boom Town A man steals a fortune under cover of war. 21k words
Hot Metal Strange goings-on in the forest. 16k words
Juju-Men Delivering a parcel to the Freemasons' Lodge brings death and destruction to the region. 14k words.
