Sunny meint:
To quote wikipedia -

"Paranormal romance is a literary subgenre of the romance novel. A type of speculative fiction, paranormal romance focuses on romance and included elements beyond the range of scientific explanation, blending together themes from the genres of traditional fantasy, science fiction, or horror. Paranormal romance may range from traditional category romances, such as those published by Harlequin Mills & Boon, with a paranormal setting to stories where the main emphasis is on a science fiction or fantasy based plot with a romantic subplot included. Common hallmarks are romantic relationships between humans and vampires, shapeshifters, or fantastical beings (the Fae, Elves, etc.).

Beyond the more prevalent themes involving vampires, shapeshifters, ghosts, or time travel, paranormal romances can also include books featuring characters with psychic abilities, like telekinesis or telepathy.

Paranormal romance has its roots in Gothic fiction. Its most recent revival has been spurred by turn of the century technology, e.g. the internet and electronic publishing. Paranormal romances are one of the fastest growing trends in the romance genre."

These are the kind of books I am looking for :) Thanks for trying to help me out though Cur Non? *flowers*

@Sunny

Was hast du denn selbst in dieser Hinsicht schon gelesen?

Hello Sunny,

Would you terribly mind to tell us about your favorite books of paranormal romance. Since you started this discussion and seem to be an expert of this genre, your input would be very helpful indeed.

As there are virtually more than a thousand books in print, it is very difficult to navigate. A very short list with just one sentence of commentary of your favorite titles would be highly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Dear Sunny!
I've not followed all the discussion but based on the general discription you are giving, I'd say, Black Daggers is indeed in your described category. As are the Psi-Changeling Stories. But it's true, there is a growing market and not all is worth the money, but its always a matter of taste. If you like 'easy' books, all those 'undead and...' cover romance and paranormal. Marjorie Lees Books are gripping, romantic and easy to read. But its quite good to keep to her writing order. Ms Bangs has a great 'Wicked' series, not as light-hearted but still soft stuff. And funny. According to your description, all those dark hunter novels fall into paranormal romance. Also the Paladins series with a great new idea. Ms Holly writes a lot of romance but tends to go more erotic. The Changeling Books are a bit more complex with a vivid world description where romance is part of the story and not center. A mix of romance and mystery are the 'fantasy' books of Ms McCray as well as Ms Cole. There are three interesting books from MacKenzie.
The 'forever' books by Larey are great, and if you like to have a laugh, try out 'How to marry a millionare vampire'. Last but not least, we got Ms J. Frank with her fantastic nightwalker series - hers are books not too easy to read but absolutely worth the effort.
That was just a small summary, there are so many out there...

"Aisling Grey, Guardian" series and "Dark Ones" series by Katie MacAlister
"Drake Sisters" series by Christine Feehan
"Circle" Trilogy, "In The Garden" Trilogy, "Key" Trilogy and "Three Sisters" Trilogy all by Nora Roberts

hope I could help :-)

Hi Sunny,

I personally quite like the "Midnight Breed" novels by Lara Adrian,
did enjoy reading the "Dark Hunter" novels by Sherylin Kenyon
and love the "Black Dagger Brotherhood" by JR Ward
what I found a bit less enjoyable are the "Darkyn" novels by Lynn Viehl, the "Paladins of Darkness" by Alexis Morgan and "Darkness Chosen" novels by Christina Dodd

And you should try the "Highlander" series by Karen Marie Moning. They are some druids, berserkers and faire folk, they are

Lets see:
Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series is great, not overly exploitive when it comes to sex or violence.

Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake books would be quite the opposite, being heavy on Sex and Violence but the first few books make for an entertaining read anyway.

Lori Handeland's Moon series falls somewhere in the middle of that, some violence, some sex and lot's of 'animal instinct', fun to read.

Rebecca York's Moon Books, heavy on the romance part but she is a good writer.

Well, I personally tremendously enjoyed Anne Rice's novels - haven't checked recently since I was quite disapponited in the end with her books, but will definetly follow up on some recommendations made on this site.

Hi Sunny,

I think you should read the "Circle" and the "Three Sister's Island" trilogies by Nora Roberts (involving magic, sorcerers, etc.) and all books by Kay Hooper (she is really great, all her heroes are psychic).
And you should not miss Cherry Adair's books which tell the stories of the Edge Brother's and their clandestine anti-terrorist (wizard) organisation. I just love them!
Have fun!

Hello,

my favourite books are paranormal romances. I last read Anne Bishop Belladonna (romantic fantasy) in the ever changing World of Ephema, The Shifter Anthology by Angela Knight, Lora Leigh, Alyssa Day and Virginia Kantra. One erewolf, two Feline Shifter Novellas and one Selkie romance. Very hot.
