Essential reading for Managers, 11. Mai 2003
As a Management Consultant who has worked for various international companies, and including 2 of the Big 5 Companies, I have had my share of practising each of their different Management techniques and principals.I found Professor Malik's 'Managing, Performing, Living' book to be very unique in his approach to helping me enhance and improve my current management style and skills. His writing style is unlike other management books that I have read, he acts as a mentor, rather than someone who dictates what and how I should approach every tasks to achieve success or else it will equate to total failure. This book has three main components comprising of the Principles, the Tasks and the Tools that leads you to the road of being an effective manager or an overall person armed with the knowledge to battle any situation that arises in any work environment. One aspect that appeals to me about this books is, there are no complicated diagrams throughout the book like many other management literature, dividing the percentage of time, resources allocated to each area of work. You decide what take precedence. Prof. Malik was there to guide me through all different aspects of management and encouraging personalized work methods and individual management style. From performing essential tasks with the use of different Tools to how best to utilize my strengths (and others) to achieve overall effectiveness, but most importantly without stress. This book is a must read for not just people in managerial positions, but for all those who are working professionals, wanting to improve or enhance their performance or be more effective at work, this book will help change the way they think, and their attitude towards work and life.
