Author Keith Baker’s proposal for the exciting world of Eberron was chosen from 11,000 submissions, and he is the co-author of the Eberron Campaign Setting, the RPG product that launched the setting. The Eberron world will continue to grow through new roleplaying game products, novels, miniatures, and electronic games.

AUTHOR BIO: Keith Baker is a freelance writer and game designer. In 2003 his proposal for the world of Eberron was selected as the winner in the Wizards of the Coast fantasy setting search.


Synopsis

Battle-hardened veterans of the Last War, four soldiers journey to Sharn, the legendary City of Towers, to seek a new life, but in a time of uneasy peace, the city is suddenly threatened when people start turning up dead.

4.0 von 5 Sternen A great first Eberron novel, 16. Februar 2005
This book picks up a few days after the end of the Last War and introduces the reader to the City of Towers: Sharn. The reader follows the first few steps of a group of Cyran adventurers through this city of intrigue and power games. Those readers who know the "Shadows of the Last War" adventure will recognize the characters Daine, Lei and Pierce from the small booklet that came with the adventure.
The story is quick and well-written and I actually couldn't put the book down before I finished reading.
What I especially like about this book is that it gives the reader much more of a feeling for the new D&D world than the Campaign Setting could.
The only drawback in my opinion is that it is, at least at the beginning, a bit difficult to see through the maze of power games and relations. However, the book contains a glossary, so it is possible to look these things up. It also contains a "Short History of Eberron" written in the last days of the Last War.
Only four stars because it is badly edited - too many errors.
But: all in all - an enjoyable and recommendable book.

Sehr actionreich, man kann kaum aufhören zu lesen, weil ständig etwas passiert. Man wird nicht losgelassen.
Die ganze Triologie ist überaus empfehlenswert.
