First of all, if you haven't read the Avatar trilogy, and Prince of Lies, don't read this book, becouse you'll miss all the plot. Second, if you are expecting a book where good will triumph over evil, where the characters are perfect, don't buy this book. The plot is great, but a little complex. It's not a fact of Good and Evil, the things are not so simple. There is the thing about the gods, and their limited perspective of the world. There is too the balance, and the thing that the Good, without the evil is useless. And at last, there is the responsability of being a God, not just with your followers, but with the others Gods as well. This book is great!

Well, all i can say is that mr Troy Denning has got balls made of solid brass. To dare write a novel in FR series, with main characer evil-hearted is a heroic act. To write it so - that the novel is worth to be classic in the future is truly a hard quest. An mr Denning has completed that quest. This book is worth every penny you pay for it, and it is filled with twists, plots and superbly well developed characters and background from the start to the end. And i cant describe the ending. The final twist was simply marvelous.

I though Prince of Lies by James Lowder was the best book ever written for Forgotten Realms. Well, I was wrong.

Troy Denning has managed to take all the cliches of fantasy fiction and shake 'em up good. The main character, as people have pointed out, is evil and the book is almost a justification for evil gods and characters. However, it actually just shows why evil isn't all black and white.

Few books make you doubt if the definition of evil is correct. The Crucible not only makes you doubt, it makes you scream out loud: "Who is evil here? "
