Three years after the Summer of Chaos, Sara Dunstan, adoptive mother of Steel Brightblade, hears rumors that the Knights of Takhisis are regathering in the evil city of Neraka. Although still branded a renegade by the Dark Knights, she travels to Neraka with the blue dragon, Cobalt, to learn the truth. There she discovers the knights are not only rebuilding under the leadership of General Mirielle Abrena, but they have imminent plans to return to war. Frustrated and seeking answers, Sara jounreys to the Tomb of the Last Heroes in Solace. At the tomb, she receives an answer she never expected, which inspires a new order that could help the people of Ansalon to survive the dark days ahead. Mary H. Herbert is the author of the best-selling Dark Horse series.


Synopsis

Inspired by the terrors of the Dragon Purge and strengthened by her courage, Sara resolves to lead a new order of knights based on selflessness and mutual aid. To h onour her son''s sacrifice she will name it the Legion of Ste el. '

I really love when an author can make a story like this out of a seemingly small placed character. Mary Herbert did a fantastic job on Legacy of Steel. I have read quite a few DL novels and this one is right at the top, almost as good as MW and TH. This book may not be a must read, but it is one that you should take the time to read, trust me you'll enjoy it. All the characters are great, even the love to be hated un-honorable Knights of Takhisis. There is also a good deal of suspense in this book, it's well paced, and the fighting scenes are excellent (including plenty of dragons). If you are a major DL fan and you haven't read this book yet then get it right now, and if you just read Dragonlance time to time then you should get this one over all the others (save for the mainstream MW and TH books of course).

This book is one of my favorites. It is smartly written and I love it being about Sara! I also loved Cobalt's loyalty towards Sara. The only problem is that I don't really think that her quest was "Steel's legacy."

I was starting to get disinterested in the bridges of time/fith age series, but this book had an amazing quality of making one want more. plus, a 3rd neutral order is going to be really cool when they write more books on it.

P.S. read this book
