Book Description
This revised Norton Critical Edition is based on Michael Katz's translation of the novel. "Background and Sources" includes relevant selections from Fyodor Dostoevsky's letters to his brother (written 1859-1864); "Socialism and Christianity" from one of Dostoevsky's notebooks; "Winter Notes on Summer Impressions", his account of a formative visit to the West and a number of excerpts new to the second edition. "Criticism" features a range of interpretations by both Russian and Western critics. A Chronology and Updated Selected Bibliography are included.
