Is your eCommerce solution ready for the cloud? This practical guide shows experienced and aspiring web architects alike how to adopt cloud computing incrementally, using public Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service. You will learn how to marshal as much capacity as you need to handle peak holiday or special-event traffic.

Written by eCommerce expert Kelly Goetsch, this book helps architects leverage recent technological advances that have made it possible to run an entire enterprise-level eCommerce platform from a cloud.

  • Explore cloud service models: Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, and Software-as-a-Service
  • Learn about public, hybrid, and private cloud deployment models
  • Understand the impact of omnichannel retailing on platform and deployment architectures
  • Build an auto-scaling solution that can quickly add or subtract hardware in response to real-time traffic
  • Re-apply what you already know about security to the cloud
  • Run a single eCommerce platform from multiple data centers, including several forms of multi-master
  • Build a hybrid solution or deploy your entire platform to the cloud

  • Use Software-as-a-Service for eCommerce, including Content Delivery Networks and Global Site Load Balancing services

4.0 von 5 Sternen Great Primer on the cloud and eCommerce -- appropriate for business and technical audiences 12. Juni 2014
Von Burton Kloster III - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
If you're new to the cloud and thinking about putting your B2B or B2C site in the cloud, this is a good introductory book on both topics. I read it on the airplane from Dallas to Chicago, and passed it on to a customer who is about to put their B2B business up on the cloud. He loved it!

Easy to read and understand, pass this out to your IT team members and eCommerce practitioners.
5.0 von 5 Sternen Very good description of what OmniChannel and eCommerce should be delivering today versus what most customers are using 5. Juni 2014
Von J. Greenwood - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
There are no books out there today that actually describe a well formulated vision with considerations for Omnichannel as this book.

I recommend that architects should read this cover to cover to appreciate what modern eCommerce architectures should look like and also consider when designing and working out the value to the business.

There are a few pages/diagrams repeated but persevere, its worth it. The last 2 chapters hang everything together. Particularly like the pyramid of maturity and expanded elastic level.
4.0 von 5 Sternen Too superficial for IT people 27. Mai 2014
Von Alexey I. Smirnov - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
This book is really a potpourri of well-known ideas that has been flying around for years. I am sure most IT specialists already know what is CDN, IPSec, PCI compliance, etc. The level of narration is really basic. The book does not go into detail about any particular topic, so it is by no means a "hands-on" guide. However, it is clear that the author is quite familiar with modern trends in the cloud computing area, and he conveys them rather clearly, albeit superficially.

Probably, this is a book for managers who ponder moving their departments into the cloud. This is not a book for IT people.

As it is said in this book, "cloud computing is a technology which is evolutionary, not revolutionary". Same can be said about the book itself.
