It began with stories of undead Taliban rampaging through Afghan villages, and faster than anyone could have anticipated; the darkness spreads through the world. In a world laid waste by this new terror, four unlikely companions have been thrown together- a seventeen year old boy dealing with the loss of his family, a US Navy SEAL trying to get back home, an aging, lonely writer with nobody to live for, and a young girl trying to keep her three year old brother safe. When they discover that the smallest amongst them holds the key to removing the scourge that threatens to destroy their world, they begin an epic journey to a rumoured safe zone high in the Himalayas. A journey that will pit them against their own worst fears and the most terrible dangers- both human and undead. A journey through a wasteland now known as Zombiestan

4.0 von 5 Sternen Crazy, different, and a very fun read! 27. August 2011
Von Jerald W. Vohs Jr. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I didn't know what to expect from this book, and it took me awhile to buy into the story and the characters. Once I was there however, I found this book to be very different from 'normal' zombie fiction. Zombiestan comes from an incredible imagination, and is probably the best edited download I've purchased this summer. Thank you, Mr. Dhar, for this outlandish, crazy, and downright fun take on Zombies. I look forward to your future works!

1.0 von 5 Sternen Save your time, pass on this 29. August 2012

I got this for free, when notified about it on Facebook. Being a fan of various genres, I thought I'd give it a shot. Much like watching any Saturday night movie on the SciFi channel, it's about four hours of my life, I'll never get back. The zombies, aren't, since they can run, talk and basically think. They can be shot to pieces, including head shots, and not go down. Add this to the somewhat thin characters and very basic action scenes, as well as the reason the zombies are created (original, but kind of silly) as well as the plodding plot, and this is just not a well done book. If this was the first draft, I could understand the problems (especially with ranks in the military, hey, hit Wikipedia, there's a whole list), but that's just careless, sloppy background work. If you're looking for a great zombie novel, grab Philip Nutman's WetWorks (no, I'm not the author, but I have read it several times) as well as others that are more worth your time and money.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Umm . . . wow. 14. August 2011

I figured for 99 cents, how bad can it be?

Pretty bad.

Slight spoilers (I only made it like 5% of the way through before giving up in disgust).

Apparently mixing radioactive material, a virus, and another poison with the explosion of a missile results in a zombie virus. All right . . . I could somewhat suspend my disbelief and go with it.

But then we learn that the virus not only zombifies its victims; it makes them gung-ho terrorist jihadists who tie black turbans on after rising from the dead and then begin spreading the plague. I wasn't sure I'd read it correctly when he described waves of black turbaned zombies rampaging through America, so I skimmed forward and . . . yes. Yes, he did.

Take a pass on this one.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Good Zombie Book 23. Februar 2012
Von J. Zebrowski - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

After reading "Alice in Deadland" I wanted more of this author's zombie novels! I immediately purchased "Zombiestan." If you are a fan of the Zombie genre, you will likely enjoy this book. The story follows a small group of unlikely friends (a teenage boy, a teenage girl, her 2 year old brother, a Navy SEAL and an elderly female professor) who are trying to survive. Somehow these heroes learn to rally together to survive against Taliban Zombies who are extremely fast (Dhar ignores the slow-walking, foot-dragging zombie stereotype) and frightening. There is nothing more chilling than the author's description of a hoard of Taliban soldiers who are becoming more and more capable of carrying out their psychotic plan to destroy the world and convert every human to their cause. I found myself on the edge of my seat and read this book in 1 to 2 sittings. Unlike "Alice in Deadland" this story has no conspiracy theory, but is just a fight of good (humans) against evil (Taliban created zombies). Plus, for 99 cents you can't go wrong!

4.0 von 5 Sternen I Enjoyed This Book and Found Myself Relating to These Characters! 8. August 2011

This is a zombie book that I really liked. I never thought I'd actually enjoy reading about the care and protection of a group of people like I did in this book. I think the writer is a younger man beginning his writing career and this is a very good book and I hope to read more from him in the future. The only reason I gave for the four stars instead of five is, Sir please fogive me, the characters and story is a little less developed than I think it could be. On the other hand, the book 'as is' is a fun and homey read. Aspects of this work got through to me and I related to more than works by other more 'accomplished' authors. Mr. Dhar, good work, Sir. I hope to read more from you. Thank you for giving hours of enjoyment in my life!!!
