5.0 von 5 Sternen An excellent book! 5. September 2011

I strongly recommend this book!

I'm a young researcher and in need of improving my academic skills. I happened to find this book from library. After reading this book, I got a much better understanding of how to prepare a science proposal and why we need to prepare it that way. In addition, I found that the skills and knowledge from the book are helpful in designing my experimental research.

The price is also very low in comparison with most books. It is really worth reading.

This book is useful, though not necessarily field specific in its examples. I found it helpful, but a lot of the content is also common sense.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Helpful insights but the organization of the book should be improved 30. Januar 2013
Von William Wang - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I am currently a young researcher who seeks to write my first project proposal for grant application. Therefore, I decided to purchase a book which can provide me some insights about how to write a qualified proposal. This book is obviously my first choice for its relatively low price of $9.90.

Throughout the book, the author does deliver some insights about how to write a scientific proposal. However, I believe it is obviously far away from the word "successful" as specified in his title. The only drawback is its organization or the flow of the book.

I can simply use one word to describe its organization - "chaotic". Although the author provide a guideline in chapter 3. But obviously, the book itself does not follow its own guidelines. The idea is just jump here and there which makes me very hard to catch up the author's logic. Obviously, I believe the author should read his own book and follow its own axiom for effective communication, the book definitely failed to "funnel" the reader.

The book contains too many funny self-contradicting sections like this:

"This type of information may not be needed.... (ok, not required) however,if...., you may required to.... (now we needed!) we advise using this section.... (ok, so this section is still compulsory) allotting too much text on this section will naturally restrict the space for other section...(ok, not really required as it may restrict other sections).... even if it is not required...is highly recommended.... (Shall we still include this section or not? Please make it logic and clear!!!Is this the way you imply in your research also?)"
