Charlie Russel is an information technology consultant, specializing in combined Windows and UNIX networks. He is also a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional for Windows Server and Security. Together with Sharon Crawford, Charlie authored the top selling Windows Server 2008 Administrator's Companion by Microsoft Press as well as the Windows Small Business Server 2008 Administrator's Companion. Charlie also co-authored the Windows Essential Business Server 2008 Administrator's Companion. Sharon Crawford is a veteran writer of computer books. Together with Charlie Russel, Sharon authored the top selling Windows Server 2008 Administrator's Companion by Microsoft Press as well as the Windows Small Business Server 2008 Administrator's Companion. Andrew Edney is an IT professional with more than 14 years experience. He is a Microsoft MVP for Windows Home Server, MCSE, CISSP, MSc, and CEH. Over the course of his career he has worked for a range of high-tech companies. He has a wide range of experience in virtually all aspects of Microsoft(R) computing solutions, having designed and architected large enterprise solutions for government and private-sector customers. This book is primarily written for users who are new to servers and trying to go through the process of setting up a server for the first time. It amounts to a series of screen shots of all of the wizards and little more. If you are looking for a book to provide details on advanced use of this product or how to troubleshoot issues that occur, this book will not help.
I bought this book in hopes that it would provide answers to problems I was having with the wizards. Google was not helpful at the time because the product has not been out that long. I ended up finding my own solutions and workarounds to the issues as this book told me nothing that I couldn't figure out with a quick glance at the screen that was in front of me anyway.

General content and limited navigation with no search features make this book hard to use with the software. Great format if you just want to read about the software. Buy a hard copy if you are going to use it with a server.

As another review noted, this book may be most helpful for users who are relatively new to servers and setting up a server for the first (or second) time. There are many screenshots. However, it also includes much explanation of the screenshots and much explanation of related issues.
I am converting from Windows 2003 Server to SBS 2011 Essentials and found this book very helpful. I recommend it for the beginning to intermediate server user.
