There's thousands of fitness books out there and if you read them all you'd need to live for thousand years and you still wouldn't have any time left for working out!
So does this book offer anything that separates it from the rest and makes it worth buying? My answer is yes.
The reason I say this is because rather than presenting a program of work-outs to help you achieve particular results, Al provides advice which is applicable to every work-out/exercise you'll ever do. This is the 'approach' found in the title of the book.
There are no 'results in 30 days' work-outs' here, though, of course, Al offers a few sample work-outs, mainly as a guide as to what level of exercise should be appropriate at various stages of progress, but these are only samples. Instead, Al, far-sightedly, delivers a careful appraisal of how to get the best out of whatever exercise/s/sports you choose to do.
There are 'Trainer Tips' much else drawn from Al's experience training other people and insights from his own endeavors in a range of activities, all this adds up to a comprehensive guide to getting the most out of every minute of every work-out.
To finish I was going to name a favorite chapter and say why I like it. But looking through the book I find that an almost impossible choice. So for me, at the moment, I'll say it's the chapter on 'mindfulness', that's the chapter that's working for me now, but next year, perhaps it'll be another chapter.
I recommend this book.

To see Al Kavadlo banging out 20 muscle ups in a row, doing one-arm chin-ups and a human flag basically tells me that Al knows fitness!

A successful personal trainer and calisthenics enthusiast, Al offers up a fresh, no-nonsense perspective on what it means to get fit and stay fit. There are no shortcuts to fitness and people have to stop listening to all the BS that exists in the fitness industry and take charge by focusing on the one and only thing that'll make a difference in your life - YOU!

A Zen Approach to Everyday Fitness will inspire you to stop making excuses and start producing results. Its straightforward, optimistic approach towards fitness is a real motivation for both beginners and advanced fitness enthusiasts alike.

Al explains and articulates very effectively the importance of getting started and believing in yourself. So, if you're looking for a way to kick-start your fitness or if you know someone who is, this book may be just what you (or they) need.

I am in Colorado and Al is in New York, but after watching his you tube videos and chatting with him I HAD to buy his book and its one of the best books I have bought. When reading the book it gives you an overwhelming feeling of "holy crap look at this guy, I gotta stop reading and start working out like right NOW!" The book motivates me to get up and do my workout even on days I don't want to. Buy this book! Its some of the best money I have spent this year on anything fitness or health related.

I really enjoyed the quick read and it gave me a better understanding of what my trainer (Al) was trying to have me do. It also provided great inspiration and some good goal setting. In the grand scheme of work out videos, diets, shakes, shake weights etc. I think this is well worth the money and time it takes to read it.

Great book for people who are beginning their fitness journey as well as people who exercise on a regular basis.
Al is straight forward with his approach to fitness, no sugar coating here. There is a lot of great information about exercise, diet tips, exercise routines (with plenty of pictures) and the mental focus to continue as well as improve your fitness level. Another aspect of this book that I really like is Al's use of body weight exercises, proof that with little or no equipment you can still get a great workout!
