I believe in being thorough, so this being the second book, I had to read it for completeness' sake - I'm hardpressed to find anything about it to recommend, however. Unbelievable in too many ways. It was interesting introducing a homosexual couple, very rare for the period, but to have one half of the couple responsible for impregnating the victim was... straining my suspension of disbelief. The "meant-to-be-disliked" Lady of the manor was far too abrasive initially, and then knuckled under far to easily. Inconsistent from start to finish! One small light in the dark: Daisy coming to the rescue, but in a very believable, realistic way. Desperate to save her guy, and then near collapsing from the effects. So much nicer that the usual, "Oh, I bash bad guys all the time" approach, which is soo comic book.
