This trilogy, wherein Elspeth discovers and trains her Mage-Gift, is in many ways different from older books from the Valdemar Series. In many ways, it is more grown-up. And although there are quite too many repetitions in the interaction between Skif and Elspeth at first, I enjoyed reading every bit of those books, partially because some Characters of the Oathbound/Oathbreakers duology and from Kerowyn's Tale come back to live - or, at least, to memory. But most of all I loved the agenda of the Companions, for they are a secretive lot (in ways of telling what they are able to do) and have some very own ideas on what is good for their Chosen - and for Valdemar in general.
Of course, as in all other Valdemar novels I have read so far, these three are not short of action, surprises, fun (just imagine Companions soaking in hot pools!), love, and - yes - also morals.
