The result of one of the largest photography projects ever undertaken, "Wild Wonders of Europe" presents an astonishing view of the continent's flora and fauna. Organized by Staffan Widstrand, Florian Mollers, Peter Cairns and Bridget Wijnberg, each award-winning nature journalists in their own right, this remarkable book reveals the wildlife and landscapes of all 48 European countries. From dramatic tableaus of spectacular valleys, waterfalls, and forests, to intimate views of strange and rarely seen creatures like the great bustard, the olm, and the desman, a team of 68 photographers captures the full range of animal and plant life throughout the continent. With a focus on conservation and reintroducing vulnerable species to their natural habitats, the accompanying texts express hope for the future of European biodiversity. Part of the celebration of the International Year of Biodiversity in 2010, the release of this book will coincide with travelling exhibitions, both outdoors and indoors, all over Europe. Tours in North America have not yet been confirmed.
Über den Autor
Peter Cairns is the business director of Wild Wonders of Europe. A photographer and writer, he cofounded the Tooth and Claw predator project and is director of the social enterprise company The Wild Media Foundation. He lives in Scotland. Florian Mollers is the communications director of Wild Wonders of Europe. A biologist, nature photographer, and writer, he is also director of the groundbreaking city-wildlife project Wildes Berlin and the author of several books. He lives in Germany. Photographer and author Staffan Widstrand is the managing director of Wild Wonders of Europe. A founding fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers (ILCP), he also co-directed the large-carnivore project Big Five of Scandinavia. He lives in Sweden. Bridget Wijnberg is the media and exhibition director of Wild Wonders of Europe. A biologist and environmental scientist with an extensive background in nature tourism, she specializes in conservation management. She lives in England.

I first read about the project back in 2008 and I thought it sounded very exiting. When I bought the book a week ago al my expectations came true.
Amazing pictures with great texts that guided me thru the book and kept me at my desk for hours. If you purchase one photo-book this year,
then it has to be Wild Wonders of Europe! They have been to every country in Europe to document the most exiting and beautiful places, just so you
can sit back in your sofa and watch them. Stunning!

This is a most wonderful book, that through gorgeous photos shows an Europe we don't usually think is so alive and with still wilderness spots. From mediterranean landscapes, old growth forests with bisons all the way through wolves its a most have book if you like the wilderness and nature photography. Photos are the best you can imagine, I wish we could have a similar project and book on the Americas!
