Kurzbeschreibung

Think Whole Grains are Healthy? Think Again!

“Anthony Colpo, a maverick ‘independent health researcher’ like myself, has always been after my heart with his irreverent, entertaining, and cutthroat writing style. In this book he reminds us all that no matter how ‘ingrained’ a nutritional belief may be amongst nutritionists and the general public alike, it often stands atop an enormous mountain of fragility—or in this case a pile of shi*.”~Matt Stone; bestselling author of Eat for Heat

“I think that this is the simplest yet best nutritional advice I have ever read!”~Todd

“Great, concise, snarkily entertaining analysis. Thank you Anthony for superior myth-busting!”~Victoria

In Whole Grains, Empty Promises: The Surprising Truth about the World’s Most Overrated ‘Health’ Food, independent health researcher Anthony Colpo unmercifully slaughters the healthy whole grain myth with a mountain of scientific evidence interlaced with his unmistakable wit.

For nearly a decade, Colpo has been slaying nutritional dragons and diet gurus with his scientific rigor and the unapologetic truth in a way that could almost be considered a martial art. In this book he examines the pervasive belief that whole grains are both healthy in general and healthier than their refined counterparts.

The verdict? No they’re not. And the foundation upon which the belief that whole grains are healthy is built will shock you!

In the book you’ll learn that you may be giving yourself arsenic poisoning with all that brown rice you’ve been eating, depleting your body of valuable minerals with your whole grain bread and porridge, and otherwise torturing your bowels and taste buds with spoonful after spoonful of empty promises.

Read Whole Grains, Empty Promises and decide for yourself if whole grains are really all they’re cracked up to be.

Book is a must read to whoever care about their health and has already figured how heavily influenced it is by eating habits - and is therefore eating plenty of whole grains.
I've been always very concerned with eating healthy and have been choosing all whole stuff - until now. Mother of young children, I feel the urge now to dump all the "healthy" fiber rich flours and rices and pastas that I have around the house.
This much is what one can learn by reading this book, it feels like a slap on my face telling me that I was fooled my entire life! And because I feel so sorry for convincing other people about "whole grain benefits" I have now the duty to spread the word and recommend them the reading!
I have long asked myself why, if looking into glycemic index data, the GI for whole products are not very low as they should to cause less sugar rise in our blood. I thought it was me being too dumb to understand the numbers. It was not and this book clearly illustrates how.
Besides all this, the book comprises lots of information already digested and condensed in a way that it is possible to read in short time.
I really hope that more people can, like me, open their eyes!

Anthony Colpo is one of the best authors. Every statement he makes is backed up by science. Can't recommend any author more.

HASH(0x9e7df2e8) von 5 Sternen Contradicts everything I've been taught. 13. März 2014
Von S.A.S. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I'm not in the nutrition business, so I can't judge whether this author's research is correct or not. My son has type one diabetes and we were both told repeatedly about the good unrefined carbs apposed to the refined carbs. We were taught his sugar would spike with the refined carbs. We did not notice this. Seven years later, my son is physically active, eats whatever he wants, and monitors his glucose levels repeatedly through the day. His AIC is 6.6. He's doing very well. I have Crohn's disease. Four years ago I decided to stop consuming wheat, barley, rye and oats. Within 2 weeks the bloating, gas, gurgling intestines, and excess bowel movements I suffered from regularly dramatically decreased. I've had one flare-up in the past 4 years and I have not been on any meds in that time. I do not advocate that someone who has Crohn's not take meds. I, on the other hand, do not respond well to anti-inflammatory meds. It is amazing to me that anti-inflammatory meds can actually cause inflammation, but they do for me. My doctor adamantly disagrees with me.

Sorry to drag this review out. I am so blown away by this book. If Mr. Colpo is correct in his assessment and research of whole grains, then the public has been hugely misled, and this greatly pisses me off. This book was very informative and eye opening. I would most definitely recommend this book. Wow, the politics of the whole grain industry, who knew? Thank you Mr. Colpo. I will definitely read other books by this author.

HASH(0x9d9c31bc) von 5 Sternen It's hard to find such balanced concise summaries of important research 28. Februar 2014
Von Victoria Meadth - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I couldn't have come across this book at a better time. I've recently been especially curious about the grain issue, and there's almost no way to get good info that isn't biased either direction (either the agri industry or crackpot conspiracy theorists).
I am a mum of four little kids under 5 and while it has been easy to avoid refined products and added sugar in our family diet, I struggle with reducing grain based products in my kids' diets. The kind of issues being, 'how much is too much' and 'am I taking all this too seriously'. It's like the last frontier for me. The information in this book will help me in my ongoing choices about achieving a balance for my kids that I can live with.
I've followed Anthony's work for several years and although he has a 'unique' way of stating his opinion which can come across a little inflammatory - but generally in a fairly entertaining way if you're sitting on the sidelines - I respect his research and his motives to write. Referring to his other books - the 'fat loss bible' is one of the only diet books I've read that makes any real sense with recommendations directly from the science, as opposed to folklore and myth (I got it about 5 years ago and still refer to it); the 'great cholesterol con' I've only skimmed because it holds little relevance for me, but I know people who've found it useful.
It's rather a shame that this kind of info isn't more widely understood by the health professions.
Kudos Anthony.

When I eat white rice, no bloating; when I eat brown rice, bloating. I always ignored that because, well, brown rice is healthier, so it must be something else, right? Now Anthony brings the data I need to stop ignoring the obvious. Recommended reading.

HASH(0x9d9c3198) von 5 Sternen Another Excellent Read by Mr.Colpo 28. Februar 2014
Von CMZ - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

You can love the guy or hate the guy (and there are many that hate the guy) but you just cannot argue with the mans research. If you like vague summaries of dubious research papers do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of your favorite mens health magazine. For a quality review on the most current studies look no further than Anthony Colpo. I have been reading here and there about the downsides of the current whole grain fad and this ebook hits the nail right on the head. SO much for the food pyramid!

After 25 years studying natural healing on a professional level I have come up with the same conclusions in this book but Colpo puts it all together in a fashion that blows the pseudoscience out of the water.
Pros: You will be ahead of the times. Cons: not enough people have read this book yet. Buy it now!!!!
