There are so many fashion books out there... so thank goodness this one has a different approach! It's compact but detailed, with a lot of text (for a fashion book) and photos, including those of celebrities (of different sizes and body shapes). There's quite a bit on beauty (make-up and hair products), as well; they name specific brands, which I find useful. The book starts off with advice on creating inspiration boards, then finding a celebrity whose body shape is like yours (copy her style!), understanding runway fashion (runway to real fashion), trends (save vs splurge), what to wear where.
In the what to wear where chapter I wish they had shown more alternatives (eg for different body shapes) because the idea is brilliant: what to wear to an art gallery/opening, fundraiser, wedding, casual date, concert, corporate cocktail party, corporate/creative job interview, football game, school reunion, night out, ladies luncheon, lazy Sunday, meeting the parents, music festival, new year's eve, on a plane, funeral, holiday.
Same for the classic vs trendy part: potentially really useful - how to make a classic outfit trendy (eg same dress but different jacket/shoes) - but it's too short, there are only two examples!
Overall: this is an interesting book I like to re-read now and again. It's packed with good ideas (and very specific make-up recommendations) and I like their style of writing. Subscribe to their free e-newsletters, if you haven't already!
