Kurzbeschreibung

Take a risk.
Do something drastic.
Fall in love.

When Amberlyn Reilly loses her mother, her whole world comes crashing down. Having been caretaker to her for most of her teenage years, Amberlyn is inexperienced in many aspects of life. She hasn’t had time to live, have fun, or enjoy even the little things. It’s only when a letter from her mother, asking her to fulfill three things, sends her off to Ireland to live a life she never thought possible that she begins to heal.

Declan O’Callaghan was born and raised in Ireland and has his family’s legendary whiskey in his veins. He’s shy and not a fan of the pressure and spotlight that comes with his family name, or the title he was given at birth—the Whiskey Prince. Declan knows just what he wants and that is to take over the family dynasty, but when his father gives him an ultimatum, everything he’s worked for could come undone in the blink of an eye.

With six months to get married, the reclusive Declan spots Amberlyn across a lake and instantly feels the need to know her. Soon, the two find themselves traveling down a path neither expected. However, like any road, there are bumps and side streets to derail them. Can Declan help find the pieces that will make Amberlyn whole again? And will Amberlyn stay or run when she learns of Declan’s deadline of marriage?

5.0 von 5 Sternen Its a really romantic and sweet story. 19. Juli 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Aleo's “Whiskey Prince” meets all my criteria for a five-star-rating. I connected with the story, felt the character's emotions, couldn’t put the book away and wanted to read it all over again. It is a really sweet, genuine story with great characters. Sure, the concept of the story isn’t new but the elaboration of the story and the character's personalities are very well written. I had a blast reading the book. Aleo's writing style is detailed and vivid enough to transport the character's emotions and she chooses the right narratives for the book. Amberlyn's and Declan's first-person narrations help to establish a connection. I really liked the Irish flair of the story. Even as a story with a single storyline, focused on the love story, I loved the book. In regard to Amberlyn's past experiences and Declan's anxiety issues with crowds the book doesn’t get boring. On the contrary it is refreshing that Declan isn’t a player anymore, that he didn’t need the love of his life to change his promiscuous behavior. The love story is heart melting and it is one of the romantic stories I ever read.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Bin enttäuscht 7. November 2014
Von Moppy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
Schrecklich!!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Sweet & Cute & Romantic 16. Januar 2015

4.9 stars

Sweet and cute and romantic -
...the writing was a bit weird - as if she tried too hard to have Dec speak Irish and I don't know how often someone needs to run their nose along someone elses - but I'm pretty sure not as often as it happens in this book - it was probably in exchange for the SEX that doesn't happen here ☺☺☺
Could have been soo much better with a bit more work or editing or no idea what...
- but it was really cute!
I'm looking forward to the second book! BECOMING THE WHISKEY PRINCESS ♥

5.0 von 5 Sternen Whiskey Prince is a beautiful love story with a hint of dark, sexy, and suspense. 15. Juli 2014
Von Amazon Customer - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
If you’re read a Toni Aleo book, you’re usually thrust into the world of hockey. However, Whiskey Prince is a bit of a departure from Toni Aleo’s well known sport romances. It’s heavy on the sweet, new and innocent aspects of a burgeoning romance. There are hints of dark and sexy in this beautiful story, but it’s not a dominating theme. Whiskey Prince is a great representation of the New Adult genre–two characters are moving into adulthood with heavy baggage but brimming with hope for the future.

Amberlynn has lost two of the most important people in her life, her parents. After caring for her mother after a long illness, she is challenged to move away from her sheltered life and live in Ireland. Amberlynn finds a second home and family there and she begins to live her life again. I love the new life Toni creates for Amberlynn. The Maclaster family envelopes her into their life with love and protection. I especially love Amberlynn’s relationship with her cousin Fiona. They’re just like sisters, including all the snarky and hilarious banter. Declan O’Callaghan character is a bit surprising. He’s not the typical cocky hero I’m use to reading. He’s shy, almost to the point of pain. He’s quiet, reserved, and shuns the attention his wealthy family receives. He’s the heir to a whiskey fortune and there is a lot of expectations of him. Marrying before he turns 25 is one of them. Declan is determined to marry for love and not obligation. As soon as Declan lays eyes on Amberlynn, he’s smitten. Toni does a wonderful job of building a relationship between the couple. For me, I found it refreshing that their story isn’t overly sexual. Amberlynn is inexperienced and it would have been inauthentic if she just jumped into be with him immediately. Declan is a complete gentleman and he doesn’t rush her. Again, Toni holds true to the nature of their personalities and doesn’t rush the relationship.

The plot for Whiskey Prince sucked me in. Declan is bound by obligation, but fights for what he wants even as he’s pressured to do otherwise. Amberlynn is suffering a devastating loss, but steps outside her comfort zone to live a life that would make her mother proud. The secondary story line features the hint of dark that Toni does so well. The antagonist Casey is as horrible as they come. The scenes with him kept me on the edge of my seat. And the ending had me screaming at my Kindle.

Whiskey Prince is a beautiful story. The characters are very well written with deep back stories that have you invest in their lives. The plot is a good mix of romance, suspense, and dark themes. The secondary characters are treated like they could be primary characters as well. I enjoyed their story lines just as much as the primary characters. I give Whiskey Prince 4.5 out of 5 stars!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great story 16. Juli 2014
Von Michelle - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Declan is the Whiskey Prince. Never heard of one, I know, me neither. However the Whiskey Prince is like royalty where he lives in Ireland and his family is from a long generation of families owning a distillery that makes true Irish whiskey. Living like royalty means having the wealth, the attention and the pressure as a part of life, not always ideal but it's part of the package. Declan loves the family business and is primed to take over but is given an ultimatum to get married in 6 months or he won't be the heir. Apparently having a wife in his life equates to the success and experience needed to run that operation which also requires the same level of devotion. Declan isn't some jaded fellow who is sour on the idea of marriage, he actually does want to fall in love and settle down. His issue is dealing with the public in order to meet people. He's not an attention seeker or an extrovert, he's more reserved and he doesn't care for public scrutiny, it actually makes him nervous and self-conscious. He's wary of people's ulterior motives for getting to know him since he and his family have been burned in the past. Amberlyn is in Ireland living out her life now that she has no parents in the states, and she is making sure she lives it to the fullest. She isn't reckless or sloppy, she just hasn't had much social experience in the way of friendships or relationships and now is her chance. She's not shy or withdrawn either, but rather carefree, honest, courageous and inspirational. I loved how non-cliche Declan and Amberlyn were and yet it didn't make me like them less. Declan's nervousness and the way he always had to mentally prep himself for social appearances was actually endearing and the real Declan around Amberlyn was still swoon worthy, Irish accent included. He definitely had a possessive streak but he wasn't overbearing. Sweet romances can get really overly sappy quickly but that's not how I felt about this story. They balanced each other well and Declan treated Amberlyn with so much respect, like a true lady. They both have to figure out if they have a future together and there's some obstacles along the way that make it abundantly clear to them just how well they would do with each other versus without each other. I'm glad there will potentially be more of these characters in the future, it doesn't seem like their story is complete yet.

Von LoveRomanceTales - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

If you are looking to find a book that is a prime example of New Adult fiction done right then Whiskey Prince by Toni Aleo is the book. Ms. Aleo’s world is full of everything from leaving home for the first time, career choices, new relationships and even the angst with a dose of heart break to leave you losing yourself in this world and only coming up for air when you must.

The cover is a great example of how simple and yet heartfelt this book is from cover to cover. Make sure you really take a look because you might miss some of the things that are pivotal to the entire book. And if you love book covers like I do this is one that may very well become the new trend in book covers like the single items that are on most of Sylvia Day’s books.

So hopefully you did take a minute to really look at the cover but what you want to know is what about the story? This is a book I will definitely return to over and over. There are so many layers and subtle story telling devices used that I am still in awe over this story. The over arching plot revolves around Amberlyn Reilly making a huge life altering move after the loss of her mother. The depth and scope of the grief that Ms. Aleo packs into Amberlyn still resounds with me and I’m sure with anyone who has lost a loved one will also feel this impact very strongly.

Meanwhile Declan O’Callaghan is born and raised in Ireland with the expectation of taking over the family whiskey business once he comes of age and marries. The exchanges between Declan and his family are told with care. We see a family struggling with tradition but a resolve to see it carried onto the next generation but a desire to ensure that all the key ingredients are included like a marriage for love and not one of convenience or position.

And if you missed it, the majority of this book is set in Ireland and that means amazing accents. In fact I’m hopeful that this book will be converted into an Audiobook and have a male narrator that embodies the Irish accent. Here is hoping!

The secondary characters include Declan’s best friend, Kane, and Amberlyn’s cousin, Fiona, really encourage the story along and help to fuel and fix some of the roadblocks that come between Declan and Amberlyn.

But I’m sure you are wondering about the chemistry between our main characters: a page turner. The first kiss between these two was stellar. The entire sequence had me completely riveted and I forgot that I had to wash laundry and cook dinner. Well done, Ms. Aleo.

Now I’m hoping you will go out and grab a copy of this book ASAP but I do have one minor caveat, this book is in 3rd person and switches from Declan to Amberlyn and back through out the book. And I know that some people don’t like that style of writing but I was never once lost and loved that I got a look at both of their reactions to events through out the entire book.

Final Thoughts: Buy this book immediately. This is the 1st New Adult book to make my Best of 2014 list and I’m thrilled to include it. I’m hopeful that there will be additional books in this world, Ms. Aleo. Not to mention, can we have this on audio pretty please with cherries on top?

Toni Aleo provided me with a copy of Whiskey Prince but nothing else was exchanged for my honest review.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Toni Aleo has done it again :-) 16. Juli 2014

Beginning of a wonderful story. I liked the fact that it wasn't a quick read even though there will be a part two to the story the ending of this part still had a HEA. Toni does such so believable job about two people meeting for the first time and falling in love. Amberlyn moves to Ireland after her mom passes away. Declan lives in Ireland but prefers to stay on his family's grounds because he doesn't like attention on him or the gossip about him since he is set to take over his family's Whiskey distillery. If it wasn't for Declan's friend Kane convincing him to go to the Pub where Amberlyn works at than he wouldn't have met Amberlyn. When you know in your heart that the person you meet is supposed to be the one for you, you will do everything to stay true to each other. I love all of Toni Aleo's books from the Assassin series to the separate story of Let it be Me to The Whiskey Prince. If you like cute and sexy romance stories definitely pick up Toni Aleo's books.

So excited there's going to be another book, and this time I hope there's a little bit more naughtiness in it. Declan what's not to love about him, "I finish my food and my pint as I watch her. She has a great a**, round and full in her fitted blue jeans." He's so protective of his woman, and she's not even his woman yet, "my nostrils flare as my nails bite into the desk to the points where I am convinced they might just pop off, but I don't care, I am going to kill Casey effing Burke." Amberlyn has no problems voicing her opinions, "yeah," she says breathlessly, "but I'm not very good at being patient when I want something." Yup, my d*** is so hard that it hurts." Even after the awkward virgin conversation Declan says the sweetest thing, "I still want to bang you, Amberlyn." I'm really excited to see what comes next for these two.
