I just loved this very witty and informative book revolving around that panacea 'a nice cup of tea'. Claudia Hunt takes the reader on a leisurely and entertaining stroll through the English way of life, we visit pubs, a cider house, a 'greasy spoon', Highgate cemetery, London parks etc. She chats in a dialogue with the reader, in German and English, about cream teas, the Boston Tea Party, the German Royals, Oscar Wilde, Dinner for One, to name only a few of the fascinating and curious anecdotes presented in this little gem of a book 'about tea and other trivialities' as she puts it. Each chapter ends with a question and answer section on the English expressions interwoven into the text. A chance to learn 'real English' rather than 'school English'. I'd say it's a 'must read' for anyone interested in polishing up their knowledge of the English language and the English way of life. And you will definitely be amused.
